That was awesome. I turned 10 years old in 1970. My life was pretty much exactly like that video.

This was my childhood in the northern Virginia DC suburbs in the early and mid 1970’s. The big-wheels, the same bikes, the pack of a dozen kids around the same age. One thing left off was that moms had to be adaptable - I might bring home a couple of friends for dinner or I might eat at their house. We had freedom that would terrify kids and parents nowadays.

Ah yes, “glorious”

-oil crisis
-junk cars
-Jimmy Carter
-weather underground

Yeah, no thanks. Take off the rose colored glasses boomer

Kids of the age depicted in that video weren't concerned much about those things. Their parents and older siblings probably were.

My biggest fear as a kid was having to go to Vietnam. Luckily, it ended about 4 years before I became eligible for service.

the ones that grew up with the freedom of the 70s became adults and when 9/11 happened decided it would be a good idea to strip all that freedom away

As I recall, the people in power at the time 9/11 happened were older Boomers, like Cheney, Rumsfeld, GWB, Clinton, et. al. They are the ones who instituted the Patriot Act.

I'm a younger Boomer (1960) and definitely oppose the Patriot Act.

Ron Paul was one of the few older guys who opposed it.

it was but most that grew up during the 70s were boomers born in 50-60. I didnt mean being a preteen in the 70s i mean actually growing up in the 70s 15-25 type. similar to you.

I was born in 1970 so I got the best of both the 70’s and 80’s.
I asked my mama if she realized how bad the fashion, particularly color palette, was in the 70’s. She said, yes, but it was all you could buy.
When the garden was plowed, we would set up teams at each end for “war”. We would put up plywood, old couches and anything else we could get behind. Then we would throw dirt clods (Alabama clay) at each other. At various times we would stuff a tin can with pine straw, smash it, light it and throw “Molotov cocktails” at each other. On July 4 we would shoot bottle rockets at each other through tent poles. Fun times.

Yeah they are getting kind of repetitive. This one had some aesthetics from the '70s but it kind of reminded me of the '80s. In Southern California we looked more like hippies.

Mom usually didn't get back home from work till 1:00 in the morning so I would stay out till midnight sometimes when I was 7.

I sure remember doing the Evil Knievel thing. It’s a wonder I never broke my neck.

But yeah, those were simpler times and in my opinion better times

I was born in 1979. I’m kind of glad I missed out on most of the energy crisis, 70’s fashion, and disco.

I graduated from high school in 1979 and it was glorious.

Had no idea the energy crisis existed. Didn't care.

70's fashion was awesome! So much better than the 80s.

Disco was so fun. I was going to clubs when I was a senior in HS.

We were all driving at 14 years old. We took boats to the lake and water skiied when we were 15 and older. We were pretty much treated like adults from about 15 years old.
