You’re about a year my senior I’m thinking.
Maybe....Born in 52, grew up in the Lower 9th Ward. My stomping grounds ranged from the Industrial Canal down into Arabi and from St. Claude to the river.
Spent many nights camping along the batture with my cousins as kids and a lot of days fishing in the Mississippi River for catfish to bring home for dinner.
Bicycles would take us miles from home just about every day with no way for parents to keep track of where we were.
Kids were WAY more independent back then from an early age that I believe helped shape our lives in a positive way.

I was born in 1979. I’m kind of glad I missed out on most of the energy crisis, 70’s fashion, and disco.
1978 here, and I agree. 80s were far and away the best decade of all time on so many levels.

I guess everyone views it from their own perspective but my formative years were the late 60s, and teens in the 70s, it would be hard to argue that those weren't the awesomest times, assuming you weren't draft eligible

I’m too young for the 70s, But this Reminds me of the80s as well…. At least for my country arse
I was born in 1970 so my early childhood was the 70s and may late childhood and teen years were in the 80s. The only real significant difference was in the 70s people wore bell bottom jeans and in the 80s they didn’t.

I grew up in rural North Alabama and we called it “hose pipe” as well.

I loved those! Especially the demolition derby set!

This was pretty much all true for me and I’m a 90s kid.

Ted Bundy liked ‘74-‘78, but 1989 really shocked him.

I was 30 when 9/11 happened. Like the previous poster, I'm barely a boomer, born in 1961.

They’ll never know the benefits of this and I’m so grateful for the experience.
