I thought there was an error.

It is also based on 59 years of life and seeing what my family and other families cook for thanksgiving.....turkey, dressing (not stuffing, we are not cretins) mashed potatoes and green beans, bread, gravy and pie. I would bet ANY amount of money that most of you who claim this is an unacceptable thanksgiving day menu will have at least some of these items on your table. Strange that....

Here's the only thing I will point out: Most women refuse to keep it that simple. Can't have plain ol' green beans, it's got to be green bean casserole.
There has to be pecan, sweet potato, apple pie plus banana pudding.
It's got to be baby red mashed potatoes and also fresh baked dinner rolls, even though you already have way too many carbs on the table.
There's probably a big salad on the table too.
That's how most women want to do it, so they can complain about how much work they put into it for you, even though you would rather keep it simple.
We don't do all of that stuff. We'll have pot roast with vegetables and a salad. Some kind of desert, probably ice cream and fruit.
There will only be 4 of us though.

You're not thinking of the kids with disabilities who would die for a bite of those bland tasteless Great Value potato flakes.

Heartless bastards.

It is propaganda. You admit as much below.
quote:

This is a meat, 3 sides, bread, desert and drink for $4.70 a person. Very doable. The problem is no one would consider a meat, 3 sides, bread, desert and drink an appropriate thanksgiving dinner

Of course you can feed 10 people for $58 if it's bottom of the barrel crap. But you know it's disingenuous, yet you keep going on and on.

Also, you sho' seem angry about this with all of the "fricks" you've been typing in this thread.

thank you.
thank you for demonstrating exactly why Democrats got fricking smoked in the 2024 election. Inflation and increased grocery prices are staring the average American right in the face and no one has felt any sort of meaningful catchup pay raise wise. Yet, you've attempted to sell us a bargain Thanksgiving meal as an acceptable Thanksgiving meal (for a group of 10). When questioned, you insult us and tell us our perspective is just wrong, things aren't actually more expensive, this is actually a great meal, and insinuate we are either spoiled, lazy, fat, stupid, etc, etc, etc.

Exactly as the media has done over and over and over again the last decade with inflation, COVID, vaccines, ____ is a threat to our Democracy, our border is secure, Russia Russia Russia, Biden is a capable leader, Kamala is a fantastic Presidential candidate, etc, etc, etc. No one was buying it, you gaslit us. And your credibility is now destroyed and you're being sold off for nickels on the dollar.

You remind me of some of the moronic customers I had when I was in the processing business. They just couldn’t understand why a 200 pound deer didn’t yield 200 pounds of meat. Apparently you have the same idiotic take.

Simple question. Do you think this quote is accurate?

This is absolutely doable. But it’s an absolutely stupid way to look at it.

I get that, many of you are overweight and see thanksgiving as an excuse to overindulge to the point of misery and nausea...we will have some of y'all about the place Thursday ourselves. That said this is not anyone's fault but the fat frickers who can't control themselves.

Can't say I've ever seen anyone call people fat for wanting a vast spread of fresh, scratch made dishes for a special occasion that is famous for its leftovers.

Can't say I've ever seen traditional Thanksgiving meal turned into a women thing. Last I checked, all the men I know look forward to Thanksgiving dishes just as much as women do.

Petty political talking points aside, the basic traditional Thanksgiving dinner is actually pretty cheap since turkey is so cheap per pound.

If you actually make everything homemade from scratch stuff like cornbread dressing, yeast rolls, sweet potatoes, banana pudding and green of choice come from a time when people pinched every penny in the south. They use so much of basic kitchen staples like flour, corn meal, eggs, milk etc. . .

I can cook—and by that I mean bread, salad dressing etc etc all from scratch and not just cook the meat — so I could definitely make a pretty good Thanksgiving dinner for at least $7 per person.

I’ll spend a lot more than that on free range, organic, upscale choices and lots of extras but those aren’t really necessities for a good homemade traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

hey guys, with Mardi Gras coming up I thought I’d share a recipe for a <$10 King Cake, serves 12.

Buy a roll of Dollar Value crescent rolls ($3.99), stretch the dough out into a circle, spread on some Dollar Value cream cheese ($2.99) and sprinkle on whatever leftover sprinkles you can find in your pantry from that birthday cake you made 6 years ago.

There you have it, a King Cake for less than $10. You’re welcome. And if you argue that this isn’t feasible or appetizing, it’s because you’re fat, lazy, and/or stupid. The AwgustaDog Propaganda arm of the Biden administration will be here soon with more details and to further gaslight you with 1000 word responses, that no one reads.

Oh well. I prefer things simple and hassle free these days.
I don't have many friends or family still living, and the ones that are still left are on 3rd or 4th wives and their get togethers are full of folks that I don't even know, hell they don't really even know each other that much.
I'll pass on that sort of thing.

According to Augusta Dawg, we’ve never had it so good! Inflation is just imaginary and in our head.
