As a Louisianian, allow me to point out that that's why Texas is Texas and Louisiana is a shithole.

did you expect state workers to accomplish anything of value on a Thursday anyhow?

not a chance in hell. They are a day away from a holiday weekend. I imagine most shut down any remote productivity by Wednesday at lunch this week.

Well at least they aren’t screwing anything up today. 5 day weekend of no frick ups, might be a positive swing for tax payers

Houston didn't cancel anything. Typical LA. See an easy to get off of work. Call it a day early.

I really enjoy taking your tax money. I really don't feel bad about it. I take shits and you pay for it. I even get days off when you don't.

Cool. Now compare salaries of GED (if that) having felons who push a button in a plant for 12 hours in the private sector to that of college-degree having state employees making sub 40k.

Jealous?

Day before a holiday weekend. Not like they would be doing much anyways. If anything, we save money from not having to turn on the lights.

Wasn't the traffic wonderful this morning? Only producers went to work today. The leaches got a paid vacation.

You know they just wanted to stretch out that Easter holiday weekend.

Just think of the time saved on the road today by the real workers. It’s a holiday weekend, game day and storms and the likes we’ve never seen. New bridge should be shut down at min.

What exactly are they going to get accomplished today that can't wait until they don't accomplish it tomorrow?

Just another day of nothing getting done. In or out of office. Who really cares?

I was once employed by the state of LA, and this is how it works. The top state officials (Governor, Lt. Governor) don't particularly like giving state employees off as they did today. What happens is when bad weather is approaching, there are meteorologist (I think the NWS but could be wrong) that advise state officials that they should close offices, and the protocol is to listen to the meteorologist, like it or not. The thought is that the fewer people off the road the better, so it's a safety concern. As we all know, meteorologist aren't always correct, so every once in a while you get days like today, but the majority of the time they are correct when advising to close state offices. So if your upset about state employees getting off today, blame the meteorologist.
