I'm really picky about date windows.
100% on this - poorly executed, poorly legible or date windows in weird places (for me that's anywhere other than 3 o'clock or possibly 12 o'clock are deal breakers for me.

Yeah-there are certain watches I want with dates, and others I don't. The Max Bill for example: a date window ruins the dial and the simplicity of the Bauhaus aesthetic to me. The date window on the Swiftsure is awkward, also.

Yeah, I don't dig the location or the angle. I usually prefer 6 o'clock or none at all. I can tolerate 3 on some watches...anything between is pretty much a no-go.

just have a hard time putting money in a "value brand" ROLEX, let alone anything. For the money I'd opt for Omega/Breitling IMO.
I always look at this take as a dig on Rolex. I'll preface it that I'm an avowed Rolex enthusiast, so there is that bias. Tudor is geared to aggressively swipe at Omega and Breitling. They are making watches with natural appeal because they take so many historic cues from vintage Rolex, but with some of the things that make them uniquely Tudor, unlike the previous incarnation of Tudor which was to a great degree a less expensive Rolex. This is nice for the Rolex enthusiast who might appreciate certain design elements of heritage Rolex pieces but might not have the means or desire to get into the market for the most sought after vintage models (there are of course many pitfalls dealing with expensive vintage watches), and going back to the past is something Rolex almost never does.
The nice think about most Rolex is that they are essentially currency. Buy modern pieces at retail or buy carefully curated good condition vintage, and one can almost certainly change them back into currency with little loss or possibly profit depending on the model one purchases. The number of non-Rolex branded watches this works with pales in comparison, is very limited to hype pieces among some prestige brands (AP RO line, a number of PP only to name a few), but very few examples from Omega and even less so Breitling.

Not a dig at all, just a matter of fact that Wilsdorf created Tudor as a value brand of Rolex.

It was/still is a watch that one buys when they want a Rolex but are not quite there financially. It was a brilliant move, tap in and gain the interest of customers that will have brand relation and move up to Rolex when they have the means. The quality, fit/finish, materials and movement amongst the two are certainly different. You do get what you pay for between the two. A nice option for some nonetheless.

Many use this to justify their purchase choice along with value retention and there is nothing wrong with that. I differ in that I'm a timepiece enthusiast, not a Rolex enthusiast.
To each their own

You get me every time with this. My first thought is always, “I wonder what they’re watching”?

Agree in the past, disagree with the current state of Tudor (starting with the relaunch in 2012). Do you really think that people only buy Tudor watches because they can't afford a Rolex in the current time?

No one is actively choosing a Tudor Sub or BB Chrono over a Rolex Sub or Daytona if they have the ability and means to do so.
This coming from the lips of a Rolex dealer, Tudor buyers either cannot get the allocation for a Rolex or do not have the financial ability.

Love older Seikos, have a 7A28 "Golden Bond" and a 1990's 7T34 Sky Professional awaiting some parts from Japan to come in. Most of my watch collection is quartz and mechanical Seikos, something my grandfather and dad always had too though they only had one or two at a time and I have about a dozen.

I admire the Willards from afar - don't own one, but especially like the one with the olive green bezel insert and dial.
I turned my 16710 GMT into a "Kurtz" of sorts last week. It was born with and has had the Pepsi bezel insert for all of its 24+ years, but I decided to do an insert change myself and see how I felt about it as a Coke.
