re: Iceland eliminates 100% of pregnancies with Down Syndrome
Posted by tooshea8 on 10/16/25 at 10:36 am to CollegeFBRules
I, too, have a child with Down syndrome, and I can’t imagine a world without my daughter in it. There is love that my older kids give me, and then there is her love. It is something only described as truly pure. My God have mercy on the souls of the people aborting these angels on Earth.

Prayers sent. I know where you are right now. My daughter was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 16 months old. It will be a tough journey, but your daughter and family can get through it. Just don’t make the mistake of going down the google road. That can give you bad information and quite frankly scare you more. Trust in her physicians. They deal with these things every day, and can provide you all the information you need. She WILL beat this, and you will all be stronger for it. Best wishes, sir. God bless you and your family.
Prayers sent!

an epic OT thread where the OP questioned if life would be better with Downs
My youngest daughter has Down Syndrome. She is also a cancer survivor, at just the age of 3. There is a saying amongst the parents of kids with Down Syndrome. We refer to ourselves as “The Lucky Few”. We consider ourselves that because of the overwhelming joy that those children bring into the world. We have 3 children, and we love them all dearly, but the love given by our youngest towards EVERYONE she meets is simply indescribable. Children with Down Syndrome truly are Heaven’s gift to us, as they are angels walking amongst us. The sincere love and happiness I get from my youngest makes your heart overflow with joy. We consider ourselves to be blessed beyond measure.

As a father of a 3 year little girl that just reached one year of remission this month from AML, my heart truly goes out to this family. During our 8 months of inpatient treatment, we unfortunately had to see when some children didn’t have the ever so fortunate outcome we had with our baby girl. It’s truly soul-crushing to witness a family have to go through what they have gone through. May God be with that child and with his family.

re: Is Madison, MS an upgrade from Prairieville?

I live in Madison now. Great homes, great schools, plenty of local restaurants. It is much safer than other areas around Jackson, and the mayor has continued to do a great job of keeping the city looking nice over the years. I would highly recommend it.
I added an update in the original post, for those who have been following and praying.

Prayers needed for my daughter
Posted by tooshea8 on 5/29/22 at 9:11 pm
I’m humbly asking for prayers for my 17 month old daughter. We found out on Friday that she has been diagnosed with AML, a form of leukemia. It’s a diagnosis that no parent ever wants their child to receive. We go to discuss treatment options on Tuesday, but until then, we are left wondering about the unknown, which is frightening enough. I can’t imagine what the future holds for her, but I am praying that she responds quickly from the treatment. I ask that you help me by praying for her. Thank you in advance.
Update: We were told by her oncologist that she will need 6 months of inpatient treatment. It was quite the shock to us that our 17 month old will spend the next 6 months in the hospital for chemo, but we will do whatever is necessary to get her well. She started her chemo one week ago today, and we are now at the wait and watch stage, where her blood counts will expectedly plummet, which will put her at a great risk of infection. Her counts should hit rock bottom at about the 10-14 day mark. After that, her counts should begin to recover over the 14 days following that. When her numbers are acceptably high enough, she’ll begin another treatment. She’s in very high spirits so far, and you wouldn’t know just how sick she is by looking at her, but we’ve been told the worst is yet to come. The outpouring of support from our family, friends, and neighbors has been overwhelming. We know God has his plan, and we must follow the path that He has laid out for us. We just ask for continued prayers for little Harper. Thank you so much, in advance.

Smashing Pumpkins “Zero”
My father, RIP, was one of the “recipients” of said “Agent Orange giveaway” benefits, and for good reason. The best man I’ve ever known developed diseases not inherent to his lifestyle or familial history. My father spent his entire adult civilian life as an RT, treating and caring for countless patients with respiratory disorders. He retired, and was soon thereafter diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. This is a disease that, without a lung transplant, is ultimately a death sentence. He slowly, but surely, spiraled downward, until he caught Covid, and it was his end. My Dad had so many diagnoses that boggled the mind. Many of his doctors could only attribute them to Agent Orange exposure. So, quite frankly, I take offense to the mere idea that there can be a term such as “Agent Orange Giveaway”. It’s disrespectful, at the very least, to our veterans who gave their all, in a war they were commanded to participate in, but were shunned upon on their arrival back home.

The surgeon in the first scene is a vile human being who doesn’t give a CRAP about his patients. Believe me, I would know. He is a prima donna whose partners don’t even respect him.

That is correct. Or, at least, that’s what they’re trying to get me to pay in order to have the ability to utilize room service.
