Question for the board:

Can you actually buy a Rolex from a Rolex AD for MSRP?

Well an actual Rolex AD can’t charge you more than MSRP, but it’ll probably be difficult to make a purchase without a purchase history at the AD, unless you are lucky. I bought an Explorer I about 3 years ago from an AD with only about a 24 hour wait, it was my third purchase from the store though.

Well, that depends.....

I can damn near guarantee you have to have history with the AD. Here is my experience.....I'm neck deep in it now.

I have a modest amount of history with my local AD. Enough to at least get asked "what I want" But I'm not buying anything that I would think is out of the ordinary for a husband that likes his wife to have nice things. I have been on their "list" for a Batgirl GMT for 2 years. Late last year, I was asked if I wanted anything else. So I gave them a ref. for a 31mm Datejust for my wife. The SA told me she thought we could get it. The AD texted me this week and told me they did not get it on the late 2025 order, but wanted to try again if I was still interested. So, maybe this year?

Also, I can kick myself every day....I had a Batgirl in my hand at the Rolex boutique in Heathrow in 2016 before the world went nuts. With the exchange rate at the time, it was $6700. I passed because I was CONVINCED they would soon have a stainless Pepsi (this was in the white gold Pepsi era). And we all know what has happened since then.

Are Seiko Mod watches bad? I seen some nice ones I like but I do not know much about Mod watches.

Thanks Epic.

The last Rolex I bought was 25 years ago for my wife. They may still have the record of it, and she bought me one later on, from the same store.

If I had the money the White Birtch would have gone home with me. Had time
To kill before a concert so I stopped in to admire my favorites. The sales guy was really cool and talked watches with me for quite some time.

Some are. Some aren’t. Wish I knew more but I haven’t followed much on the mods in quite some time. Last time I was looking at some, I saw a lot of junk. Probably due to everyone trying to make a quick buck.

That blood moon samurai mod is really cool though

One of my absolute favorites in my collection is this original Bond Seamaster clone- but in a GMT.

My buddy picked up a rose blossom dial GS is Japan last year.

I’m not big on Grand Seiko, but that is a very nice piece.

My 16800 should be leaving Hong Kong any day now after getting the Michael young treatment. I’m excited to get it back. It’s been almost 6 months.
