Any thoughts on the new Rolex Land Dweller?
I don't love the dial. I'll do like another poster and mention the Oyster Quartz, which I really like the aesthetic of, but have some real hate for dead stop second hands. That (perhaps short sightedly) for me has been the deal breaker. I've come close several times, but never pulled the trigger on an Oyster Quartz.
I much prefer the regular style DJ dial witout the fluted motif and particularly without the arabics at 6 and 9, and don't love the hand set. I prefer the bracelet of the Land Dweller to the Oyster Quartz, but like them both. For what it is worth, I think the watch looks great on the wrist in the wrist shots I've seen on the interwebs. I instinctively put myself on the list for a 36 mm steel version, but have waffled since telling my AD that.
Here's what I have on for today and what I've been wearing since I got it last month 126710BLRO (lives up to the hyper for me).

Citizen Eco-Drive diver that I bought my Dad on the second to last Father's Day he was alive. This was his daily beater from that day on.

The Seiko dive watch I purchased in Dhaharan, Saudi Arabia in 1990. Known now as a Swarzkopf Seiko because apparently he bought the same watch while he was there and wore it during the conflict.

The Coldplay Canoodling CEO was apparently wearing a Richard Mille RM-69 to the concert.
Which has to be one of the most perfectly fitting watch pairings I’ve ever seen.

The love affair continues.

I went into a Rolex AD yesterday for the first time, and was shocked at how much better that experience was than the stuff I’ve read online. The SA was friendly, answered my dumb questions, and gave what felt like honest answers about wait times without pressuring me to buy other stuff to expedite my process.
Got on the list for a new DJ oyster 41 mint green, like the one shown below.
I don’t think I’ll ever go back to gray market if this ends up being as smooth of a process as I’m hoping.

Nothing fancy, but all quality for the money.

Love that SPB155 "Baby Alpinist". Great watch. Blue dial on the Oris Big Crown is also quite nice.

Been feeling a bit nostalgic lately. Devil Diver re-issue, really cool watch for not very much money. (Paid well under retail.)

bumping this thread rather than start a new one.
can you describe in a few photos how you got into watches?
for me, my babysitter gave me an orange manual wind saxony when i was like 7 AND I FELL IN LOVE IMMEDIATELY.
i still have the damn thing. just found a band that works so i can actually wear it and it loses 30 minutes a day. one day i'll have it serviced properly for nostalgia purposes.
then my brother saved up for a year and bought a $75 LED bulova which i thought was the coolest thing i had ever seen..LEDs were still very much a novelty back then.
then for my birthday one year all i wanted was a stopwatch more than anything in the world.. I WAS OBSESSED.and my dad got me this!!
i do not know where it came from, only that both he and my grandmother made me treat this like it was the king's jewelry.
i still have it. at the time i had no idea who breitling was.
then i fell in love with the casios in high school. i would get home from school every single day and stare at that ad until i had every word memorized.
it played the russian and japanese national anthems! cool as shite.
then when i graduated high school my parents got me a proper seiko which i've lost
but when i go back to La i'm going to dig through all our old stuff in hopes its there somewhere. loved that watch.
i had an opportunity to buy a close-out Seiko tv watch
at JcPenney for $45 and i didnt pull the trigger.
that was the one that got away. my white whale
finally i got hooked on swatches and bought about a dozen throughout the 1980s (hey, even a broke-arse like me could afford $35 once or twice a year)
had the red one and the yellow one (still have the yellow one)
from then on it was pretty much whatever caught my fancy.

Started out with some kind of digital watch from the Sears Catalog in the 1970's. Got really hooked on the idea of a Submariner from Dr. No and then seeing a Submariner ad in a magazine.
Back in the Tudor game. Impulse buy last week. Enjoying this and had been wanting a sporty watch on a rubber strap. Fantastic little watch. T-fit clasp is excellent. Really like the matte black dial and gilt rimmed markers and hands. I think I wish the bezel pip triangle was red, and the crown is kinda small, but overall its a winner for me.

This kind of reminds me of a watch I had back in the day. For the life of me I cannot remember the brand, but I'm pretty sure I bought it from the Watch Station - I think it was called that, it was the Sunglass Hut of watch stores, if that makes sense.
I lost the watch in a fistfight outside of a Blockbuster Video, and I've wanted to replace it.
But I can't think of the brand name. Anyone have any ideas of watches that were sold in the late 90's/Early 2000s at the Watch Station that were similar to the one pictured above?

I wear the same Seiko solar chronograph week in and week out unless I doing yard work or something similar, then I switch to a Seiko 5 Sports beater. Have plenty of other watches but just don't get around to switching out. Pocket knives are a different story, I carry something different every few days...

1665 (I'm thinking that's an acrylic crystal)? Lovely. The big lume plots without the WG surrounds are excellent.
Oyster Perp Date today - lesser known and slightly smaller (34 mm) sibling to the DateJust.

I'm sans watch for a couple months while my 16800 takes the long trip to Michel Young service and a case restoration. I might pick up something in the interim to wear but not sure yet. Been wanting to add a Tudor or a BY sub for my son.
