how the hell do you get trapped in your own car in front of what I am guessing a busy waffle house...and die?
This. No beating on the window with passers by?

I'm not sure some of you have ever tried to break a car window. I've had to break several in my line of work, with the intention of dragging injured people out. Without specialized tools (an unscrewed car antennae will work in a pinch), it isn't exactly easy.

Surprised nobody in the Waffle House noticed him.
What a crazy series of events.

especially for a guy that old. I'm positive I could do it with my feet but that would be really tough for a guy in his 70s

Have a friend who has a BMW with the newfangled entry. She put her baby in the backseat and put her purse with the proximity key in it on the passenger seat and closed the door while she went around the other side the doors locked. That is not supposed to happen. She was in the garage at Canal Place and it was in the shade and she had a little time (wasn't summer). Several large men came to help and not one of them could break out a window with their fists and I believe they even had a piece of pipe. Finally someone came along with a life hammer and instantly popped a side window. BMW still cannot explain what happened and bought her all new side and rear windows because they were all scratched up and marked from beating on them with different things. Right before that I started carrying life hammers in all my cars when all those cars were going off the causeway.

When you do a tune up, keep some plug cermaic in a envelope in the car, it breaks windows by barely touching them.

Surprised there aren't more "Darwin" posts.
The go to joke here is pretty obvious with it happening in front of a waffle house but I'm exercising restraint.

Yep, it's incredibly difficult to break a car window. I would say damn near impossible without some sort of tool.

Holy shite that is a major design flaw.

I have one like that that also has built-in LED lights for if you land in water or need to signal something.

One of the most embarrassing moments of my life was my first extrication class. Guy gave me a hatchet and told me to break out the drivers side window on one of our practice vehicles. I hit it four or five times before it finally broke. Had another guy try on the other side, same result.

Sad story, but you can bet I'm breaking the window to get out to save my dog and myself.

What a retarded locking system. Way to go GM.

You'd think he could have beat on the window and gotten someone's attention. fricked up way to go.

Truthfully, they should sue this vehicle maker, because no one would know something like that about a car. What kind of fricking retards made this vehicle so that if it loses power you need to know a goddamn secret switch to get out of it.
I'm mostly pissed because that cute little doggie died. 10 people who work for that car company should die to make up for that sweet little puppy's death. fricking corporate pigs.
