Got a bottle of water? Did not hang out and drink the water. Chat with people for 20 minutes. I ran out of water, so I walked to the in house cafe bought it and walked back to my desk?

“fricking off” is strong for that situation.

Fire without cause? True but not for all industries. If you are a big company and you fire any minority you better have it well documented. Multiple warnings documented and signed by employee in question. You might still end up being sued. In a lot of cases this fire without cause shite is simply not true in Texas.

what’s the most ridiculous “F You” thing you’ve ever been told by a boss, manager, supervisor, admin, business owner?

I am not in Texas, but this is my healthcare setting reality-

'mandatory extra shifts' every pay period sans bonuses or other monetary incentives.

This has been an ongoing post-covid theme when we lost a lot of staff to travel jobs and others leaving the bedside altogether.

When I asked how long this is expected to continue, my director responded 'indefinitely'

I don't doubt they'll bring that back where I am too soon. Thank god I got out of the unit. The charge up there this week said I could come back and pick up some. I told her she was out of her mind and that there was a reason I left.

They've lost 12 people since June and have found exactly one replacement. Management is just absolutely clueless.

I once worked for a clock watching boss. He questioned me once about taking 5 minutes over my normal one hour lunch. We were all salary.

He eventually retired, but I always wondered what he did if he had time to clock everyone’s time down to the minute everyday.

I fired a guy for documented harassment of females, went to unemployment hearing and presented evidence of the harassment plus all the available jobs in his locality that were identical to the one he was fired from and we still lost

During covid, we made a crap ton of money. So the cat is completely out of the bag- the money to pay bedside staff is there- but admin wants it in their pockets.

During said interaction with my director, when she told me the extra shift sans compensation would continue indefinitely, I changed employment status to PRN and told her I was starting a new job.

She was stunned! It was great. I told her the only reason I was leaving was due to the scheduling. I've been at the bedside for 24 years and love it- but I am not owned by any damn hospital.

so.....as long as your "trips" are not causing delays in other coworkers waiting on you for tasks or information....or...as long as your overall job is completed and completed well.

IF those items are not issues, then be a big boy and go ask that dude why is telling you that.

he may have a reasonable basis for doing this. however, if he is a a-hole, then sharpen up that resume. this is a free country. you are not forced to work anywhere.

Bankruptcy laws in Texas are the worst for the creditors yet excellent for debtors. The worst.

I work for what would be considered a large corporation based in DFW, we have over 3,000 employees around the US.

We went for years where salaried employees who worked OT were paid what HR stated was Chinese Over Time, none of us had ever heard this term.

Our annual salary was divided by 52 (or whatever) to get the weekly rate, divided by 40 to get hourly then we were paid 1/2 of that.

Something happened last year (they either got in trouble or decided the model wasn't good for our Brand) but we all got huge raises/promotions and all OT was stopped.

Mine was a week ago. Being told my morning trip to the on site cafe to buy a bottle of water. Talking the time it takes me to walk there, but the water, and walk back. 3-5 minutes. It was a “problem”. In my 30 plus years of work. High school and college knuckle head jobs to career. I’ve never been told something so foolish.
It’s not about the bottle of water, they just don’t like you. They will micromanage you until you quit so they can hire someone they like.
