It is and there is very little doubt about it. I ain't an AI doom wisher, I LOVE me some AI, it has increased my production like nothing I have experienced in 61 years and it will, eventually, create millions of far better jobs than it eliminates, but between now and then the bankruptcies and financial ruin that are data centers is going to be DEVESTATING to the economy without some MAJOR government spending. Some researchers claim that $80 billion data center down the street that no one wanted in the first place will be obsolete in 3-5 years....after taking 2 years to complete if the firm was fortunate. From what I have read it is akin to the PC boom of the 80s and 90s when consumers would rush out to pay 3 times for the newest processor over the one that was the newest 3 months ago and find that their damned pricey tool was obsolete 90 days after purchase. That was bad enough when it was $1500 and spread out over the entire population....but data centers are slightly more expensive and the risk pool is miniscule in comparison. It is liable to get bad. I hate that....'cause I love me some AI...it is fascinating

There are desert landscapes, hills and canyons in, or close to, California too.
Someone else said it best - better to live in Texas and vacation in California than the other way around.

I have read and been told that rent prices are leveling off or dropping in most major markets due to projects started in the years after COVID being finished. I know my son, who was enamored with Buckhead for 5 years, has moved into a FAR nicer apartment just OTP for almost 50% of what his lease was in town....he is happy as a pig in slop. Swears he never really cared for living ITP LOL....

Not sure what you mean by "new" place. Tulsa is not new and is kind of on the downhill slide. When I was growing up there, it was known as the "oil capitol", but all the major oil companies pulled out and moved to Houston.

By "New" I mean I left Houston and visited Tulsa. It didn't feel like I was in a different place as it had a similar look to a Houston burb with many of the same slop franchises and strip malls.

Hate all you want, it’s a great place to raise a family. My kids ride their bikes to school, meet up in the neighborhood and surrounding parks. Pavilion has headline concerts and is a 10 min uber away.
Sure there could be more cool places to eat, but if having some bland shopping centers is the draw back for the rest of it then so be it.
