Over the last year and a half I’ve been traveling to Houston every other week. Just across the state line in Texas the construction has been essentially non existent.

What’s the story?

I drove to Sasol in LC every day from Beaumont for 2.5 years and probably 4 days out of the 5-6 there was some kind of backup there. It will forever be under construction lol

This section of interstate has been under construction for as long as I can remember. I feel like the last few years they have accomplished nothing in terms of completion.

That construction makes that stretch of interstate pretty scary with the high speeds.

Can’t be worse than 35 between Austin and Dallas

I’m gonna have grandkids before that’s done

So close to Louisiana, they want all the Louisiana people to feel at home with slow construction. Then they go into shock when they see massive construction and shiny new schools all over.

I travel it often. When they do work its Saturday mornings, or the middle of the night. I don't get it. Texas Highway projects while their end results are great the implementation is strange as F. At least the Bridge is finally complete coming into Beaumont.

Lived here for over 4 years. It's been like that for longer than those 4 years. They have made progress, but it's slow. They finally opened some further past the state line, but the stuff at the line hasn't been touched. I'd assume it's not getting touched until they complete that overpass system in orange.

It’s better than it was 8.5 years ago.

Agreed. Build the wall. Texas is Mexico.

I have been in Texas this time for 18 years. This situation is not typical of Texas road construction. They usually move along much quicker.

I have been driving for 20 years and grew up in Beaumont. That construction was going on before I began driving and it is still there and in many ways worse off than when they began. It doesn't appear to even be close to getting done.

Not all highway projects can run as smoothly as the BR Loop.
