I lived in Houston. There has been construction on the interstate 10 from Orange to Beaumont since 1987 ( 32 years). No fricking exaggeration.

Well I said 2 decades and was hoping I wasn’t exaggerating.

Every time I travel to Houston 2 things happen. There is delayed travel due to construction from Orange to Beaumont (28 Miles) and 2. There seems to always be thunderstorms around the area from June to August.

They call the area from Orange to Port Authur to Beaumont The Golden Triangle but it’s more like the Devil’s Triangle.

It can't be worse than 10 E of BR, out towards Prairieville. Did they ever get done with that?

I did that a couple weeks ago.

Was driving back from Houston and saw traffic stopped just west of Winnie. Looked on Google maps and saw traffic was stopped for several miles eastbound. Said “frick it,” and took 73. Drove 80 mph all the way to Port Arthur.

Construction workers are only out there 25% of the time.

And 50% of that time, they are just standing around doing nothing.

In fairness haven’t they redesigned that stretch of I10 several times now? I’ve been told they continually expand the interstate adding to the completion time.

But that’s hearsay. Nothing from anyone I charge.

Anyone have any answers to this?

Or are you TX people just fine with corruption and incompetence at your DOT?

I feel like they have been working on 1-2 mile long pieces of a 25 mile long stretch. they work on a mile or two, then move to the next section. I feel like they worked on the part closest to Orange 25 years ago, and made it all the way to the Beaumont end. Now, 25 years later, the Orange end needs to be expanded again.

At least they are working on it, unlike here in LA, where we have had a part of I-10 that's only one lade wide, for generations.

Definitely Take 73 through Port Arthur, I’ve never had traffic issues going that route.
