I'm not much on cheering proficiency, but know a cult when I see one.

Holy hell College Station must be one boring arse town to get that many people to come watch that sad bullshite.

It's really not that bad. No worse than Starkville or Auburn and they have Houston under 90 minutes away.

I've been to College Station a good bit. They have fun college bars and the usual shite around campus.

There is really no good explanation for their cult-like fanbase. I guess it could be a secondary result of the military/cadet tradition but the service academies aren't like them.

It's unique and funny. And it's part of our conference now.

Them MFin Baseball fans brought a bubble machine into Alex Box. A god damned bubble machine.

Them Aggie fricks never cease to amaze me with their cheesy borderline gay shite.

Borderline? It’s way over that line in my opinion.

Here’s what I don’t get. How does NO ONE in these cheerleaders’ families ever tell them to cut that shite out? Men, imagine your son carrying on like those overall-clad weirdos. Would you not go out and ask him what in the hell he is doing and then tell him to cut that shite out? Can you imagine your coworkers and neighbors knowing that your son was prancing around in skinny overalls acting like that? It just seems like somebody would tell these guys that what they are doing is cringey and gay as hell. I can’t imagine that a dad, sister, mom, grandpa, uncle or someone who cares about these guys never gave them a reality check. Is it possible that they ALL think this shite is cool? It that is the case, it is definitely a cult.

Zapps4life:

Ron Zappe, founder of the famed Zapps chips, went to A+M. I reckon you’re kin to him, based on the user name and paucity of posts prior to this topic.

From Ron Zappe’s obituary:

quote:

Ron was born in Beaumont, Texas, on Feb. 15, 1943, to Verline and Lester Joseph Zappe. He grew up in Houston and attended Reagan High School. He studied industrial engineering at Texas A&M, Class of '65, where he quickly distinguished himself by being named Outstanding Freshman in 1961. He gained further notoriety among his Aggie peers when he was charged with cattle rustling for his part in the capture of the University of Texas mascot, Bevo, in 1963. Ron began his career with Ingersoll Rand

On a different note, tell Utz that zapps have changed for the worse since the sale to them. The lack of pure peanut oil for frying, and the inconsistent seasoning have had detrimental effects. Although I do appreciate “dirty chips” story—basically just zapps but marketed as healthy and kosher instead of Cajun.

Initially a celebration of home runs, it’s expanded to runs and other achievements, and fans all over the stands bring their own bubbles.

The fans will encourage the first-base coach to “Get in the box!,” urge a coach talking to a player to “Touch his butt!,”

It's a cult. Many of these cheerleaders... their dad was a cheerleader, their uncle was a cheerleader, their grandpa was a cheerleader, etc. It's a legacy thing.

Have we mentioned about the cadets that sleep on the floor while the dog sleeps in their bed, and how they take the dog to class and if the dog barks, then class is dismissed?

Also, we might need a new thread, but the Longhorns have some weird crap about them as well.

Utz sucks, but old man Zappe wanted his kids to have their own career outside of chips, and from what i've heard they all did, and that's what he wanted instead of them taking over the family business.

and while i would hate for my kid to come to me one day and say "Dad, i have a full ride academic scholarship to Alabama and i'm going to go there", i would still be proud that my kid was able to succeed enough in high school to get that kind of opportunity. while i hate alabama, i can respect the fact that they provide a good education, and i know my kid would have fun in tuscaloser.
But if he came to me and said the same thing about going to A&M, i'd feel like i failed as a dad. That's probably the one school that i would have to step in and say no you're not going there.

the inconsistent seasoning
The seasoning on Zapps have been inconsistent well before Utz bought them out. However, I still enjoy them, pickle and voodo are my faves.

On topic, ATM got some strange shite going on.

We laugh at these and think they look ridiculous. Also, they’re mentally ill/attention whores who are not officially linked to the university.
