Old Dallas? Oil.

Current Dallas? Corporate HQs with transient residents coming in from all over.

Yes Dallas is very brand conspicuous and some people spend a shite ton to put on airs. There is also a lot of old money in Dallas and a lot of new money to still be made.

I’ve lived in both Dallas and Houston. Houston was a lot more laid back whereas Dallas if full of different cliques.

It’s white rock lake. I should clarify it’s hardly the largest lake in the country lol, just the largest completely confined within one city limits.

We lived at the southern tip of Highland Park for a couple of years and the dynamics at play in that neighborhood were always funny to watch.

What percent of people in that neighborhood were living from old family money?

In UP and HP I see signs for kids having like a 9th birthday and I always wonder how someone could have made that much coin that quickly in life (unless like a professional athlete or something).

Stopped reading here after I saw who the reply was from. If I see you at Stone Creek, I’m covering my pooper.

much better work.

edit to add - i'm but a poor working stiff who can only afford Franco's, so your pooper is safe at Stone Creek (at least from me)

A lot of the old family money houses are being torn down and replaced. I've definitely seen younger folks (40-50's) moving in that have young kids.

Some of them are family money while others did very well in real estate/investing/owning businesses.

It's not hard to think if they waited until later in life to have kids that they earned enough to live there. My dad had me at 43 which made him 51 when I turned 9.

Why this Louisiana board is so fascinated by Dallas and Houston is beyond me.
Typical LA envy built on foundation of insecurity. Yes LA, there are better places. Lots.

vast majority of the folks on this board are quick to point out the plethora of shite wrong with Louisiana.

Dallas folk are the original insufferable $30k millionaire. The weird flex they put on being in Dallas is cringe at best. Dallas May have the worse weather in the lower 48

Humidity is lower. It has been 106 the last few days but I can go for a 30 mile bike ride and barely sweat. As for cold, it's generally not bad, I can still ride my bike in the winter if it isn't raining. We do get an occasional ice storm but that is kind of fun

Hotter by number but not in reality.

It can be 103 index and not break a sweat in Dallas, where it can be 94 with high humidity in S Louisana and have full on swamp arse.

If I'm looking for a better place to relocate from La, neither Houston or Dallas come to mind. Texas is overrated.
