The food at Mi Cocina is average at best but the Mambo Taxi just might be the greatest drink concoction ever created.

Strange mix of snooty old oil rich MF'ers and hood rats. I grew up near Vail, CO and we all hated Texans cuz all we ever saw was those rude frickers from Dallas. Ended up in TX for school and have never left, cuz I love the state and the people, but I still hate Dallas.

i'm a life long Texan and even though i absolutely hate Austin, it at least has a culture other than assholes and money, unlike DFW.

If the average person in Austin is an upper middle class liberal driving a Subaru (is that what live drive) in their 20s and the average person in San Antonio is a blue collar Hispanic driving a pick up then the average person in Houston is a white 20s-30s bro that dresses like Mac Miller and drives a BMW and the average person in Dallas wears Patagonia vests and button downs and drives a Range Rover or Tesla or Mercedes.

This is pretty accurate for 2023. I grew up in Houston, and I will always proudly claim it as my home town, but I never want to live there again. Using this car metaphor, here is how it USED to be:

Austin - Subaru
Dallas - Range Rover
Houston - New pickup truck
San Antonio - Old pickup truck

Austin and Dallas are still pretty much the same, but Houston is more Range Rover / BMW now than pickup truck, and San Antonio is more of a semi late-model pickup truck than an old model.

Honestly, the best city in Texas now is probably Fort Worth.

Like “This Century”. There are people who just became Medical Doctors who were not even born the last time the Cowboys were in a Super Bowl. Sit back & think about that for a second.

Is fully comprised of people who hated where they were from…and where they’re from everyone is glad they left.

No steers in sight. That only leaves one thing when it comes to Texas.

true from my experience

When I moved over to Ft Worth for work I was fascinated to find that most of the people I worked with were from the area. Some of them came from local high schools and everything.

That's a good map. The area that includes about 3 miles north of downtown Dallas is entitled azzes living off family money and trying to hold onto their prestige from all the new money that pouring in from smarter and harder working business people. Mixed immediately around that area are younger people trying to rub elbows and get in with and or marry into them.

We lived at the southern tip of Highland Park for a couple of years and the dynamics at play in that neighborhood were always funny to watch. Especially that crazy lady who was fighting the city to keep all that crap in her yard on Beverly between the Tollway and Lomo Alto
