Now throw that same object at a normal car window....

People that expected the ball to just bounce off are clueless. The window did the job it was designed to do.

Guess what happens when you shoot bulletproof glass? The rounds just don’t bounce off and leave the glass like nothing happened.

That was not the point of them lightly throwing a ball at the window.

Like I said. Throw the same thing at a normal car window and it’ll go right through and out the other window.

The window did the job it was designed to do. The object didn’t go through the glass.

Apparently hitting the door with a sledgehammer first put a crack in the glass that caused the window to break

i can get normal, non shattering glass window, and it will do the same thing. What do you think your windshield is made out of. you are acting like these is some new tech when it is not.

No it won’t the ball would go right through the window, into the car, break the other window, and leave the car

The window did the exact job it was designed to do. Prevent something from going into the cab by breaking through the glass.

Pray tell, do you think bulletproof glass that shatters but prevents the rounds from breaking through into the interior is a failure?

What you call "normal" glass is actually laminated glass. Most people think of normal glass as non-tempered float glass and shouldn't be anywhere near a car.

Most passenger vehicle door window glass is tempered and will shatter into small square chunks.

The basic technology is not new in the Tesla but it is basically non-existent in that particular use.

WTF are you talking about? I was driving down the Island road on False River a decade ago and had boat trailer coming the other way. We each were probably going 55, toward each other. One of his bearing buddies came off and hit my windshield.....guess what it didnt go straight through the windshield and kill me. So your telling me that if i were to put windshield glass as side windows it would have done the same thing..... that hub protector had WAY more energy that those small balls they lightly threw at that truck.

Also..... havig side windows shatter is a good thing. you get in a wreck and cant open your door, now you cant get out of the truck. the fire fighters can quickly get you out by pulling you out.....your car gets submerged, now you cant shatter the window to get out.

right.... and that is on purpose.

and has some major cons as i posted in my previous post. hell you get t-boned now that laminated glass, with enough force, and turn deadly next to your face.

and look im exaggerating greatly. but these tesla tards are acting like apple tards.

Sure, the presentation was a disaster that made for great memes.

But do you really think that proved the Tesla glass won't be as powerful as a standard pickup? Of course not, it'll obviously be able to withstand more than a standard pickup's glass.

Also, did you not see the sledgehammer demo?

Yes, and you'll have to pay for it for all 4 windows.

But if you're going to pretend the Cyber Truck's door windows can't withstand any more than a standard pickup, then you're just intentionally hating for the sake of hating.

This comment is just perfect. You're calling out "tesla tards" while in the same sentence admitting you're exaggerating greatly because you're just a hater, which is no different than the 'tesla tard" you're calling out.

Musk even admitted that the stunt didn't go as planned.

Not sure bulletproof glass is a selling point anyway. And I live in NOLA.

The same glass on the Tesla has been available in an S-Class for years.

Windshields are angled and made of tougher glass than window panels. Why are you comparing apples to oranges bud?

It’s all about the angle the object hits..... a pure vertical pane of glass is going to break far easier than glass angled at 20 degrees

You’re just deflecting deflecting deflecting bud.

I've seen some renderings of the Cybertruck that look really good imo. Part of it is the shiny silver that makes it look worse.

I personally really like the paint scheme on the 3rd one.

It is! And your link proves it.
quote:

If you use coal-fired power plants to produce the electricity, then all-electrics don’t even look that much better than a traditional vehicle in terms of greenhouse gases,” says Virginia McConnell, an economist at the environmental research firm Resources for the Future.
First there's that big "if". The energy mix in the US is about 64% fossil fuels, with about 35% of that gas and 27% coal, but we will do the worst-case math assuming 100% of an EV's power comes from a FF plant.

Coal-fired plants are about 37% efficient, and gas-fired is about 55%, so we will split the difference and call it 45% efficiency (actually should be higher since we have more gas-fired production). Let's put line efficiency at 88%, charge efficiency at 85%, and motor efficiency at 85%. This equates to 64% efficiency plant to wheels, which jives with estimates that I've seen in the range of 59-62%. Let's just call it 55% to be on the safe side. For comparison, a typical ICE engine is only about 20% efficient, so an EV is almost 3 times as efficient as a typical ICE vehicle at converting FF to miles. On top of that, pollution is much easier to contain/control at a central source (the plant) than at millions of tailpipes.

So if more than twice as good doesn't look "that much better", then you're entitled to your opinion, I guess.

And that's worst-case, 100% of an EV's charge is from FF plants. The reality is much better, and with more EVs on the road every power plant efficiency bump automatically "upgrades" every EV already out there.

Any way you slice it, the "but but but dirty electricity!" argument is bunk. Pure bullshite.

I hate Tesla. I think the company would have gone under long ago if it weren’t for the us govt propping it up. I think the cars are ugly, I think the truck is absolutely hideous.

I just think it’s funny people are freaking out saying the window failed when it did the job it was designed to do. Was it pretty? Nope. Was it meme worthy? Absolutely.

But it did the job it was supposed to do.

Actually it is, it will be competing in the F150/Ram market, those are pretty standard trucks.

This thread suggests you have some tendencies, if I'm being honest.

And there it is, we've come full circle.

I try to talk rationally, you just spew irrational hate stuff.

Move along, i'll just add you with a few others to not talk Tesla with, not really any point to.
