Rivian

I’m a traditionalist and have mixed feelings about electric cars replacing the IC engines of today. I can’t defend it, I just feel that way.

With that aside, if I were going to choose an electric truck, I’d go for the Rivian based on looks alone. The Cyber Truck reminds me too much of a 1970’s sci-fi vehicle. The base Rivian price is closer to the top of line Cyber Truck. The range and towing capacity is a bit lower, but it looks a lot more like a normal truck.

What says the baws on here? Which would you choose? Cyber Truck, Rivian, or I ain’t never buying no soy boy battery operated truck?

Price point. I don't know why Tesla went full retard with their design, but it will all be about price.

I could justify the Rivian as a luxury truck if the numbers don't work. Like the Lincoln Blackwood or Cadillac truck thing.

That Tesla is just fugly.

Like John Delorean came back to offer design ideas.

That's pretty badass specs.

I wonder what towing a 5000lb aerodynamic travel trailer does to range.

Ground clearance, fording and other off-road features are impressive.

I would wait 30 for a 200 mile bump, while eating and stretching.

I love that Tesla. It's ugly as sin, but almost every truck is ugly these days.

I think we need to see Musk deliver that truck before it's anointed though.

Rivian looks like a Honda Ridgeline. Cybertruck looks like something Robocop would drive. I would take the Cybertruck.

Because it looks better than the Tesla.

Looks better than the F150, and Ram Chevy pickup imo.

Tesla Cyber Truck, all day, every day, and twice on Sunday....

The Rivian's window strength can't compare to the Cyber Truck's.

I hear ya, it's tough to give up the sound and the feel. But IMO electric vehicles just have too many advantages. Aside from the obvious "fuel" costs are cheaper, the fact that you're carrying around a huge battery opens up lots of options for utility. Like I think the Rivian will have a fricking pull-out kitchen option! Just slide it out and fire up the stove. Also Musk said the Cybertruck will have a solar panel bed cover option, which can get you about a mile or two of range per hour of sunlight. Also talking about a possible slide out solar "wing", which could add a few more miles of range per hour of sun. That means some people might never have to plug the damned thing in.

And with many, many fewer moving parts, mechanical breakdowns should be few and far between. With the fuel and maintenance savings, the TCO for EVs will make them hard to pass up in the next few years, especially assuming battery tech continues to advance.

How far can it tow 11k lbs?

I'd say 30 miles. Maybe.

Same with the Tesla wedgetruck.
