There are lots of companies people hate. People often hate their cable companies and insurance companies (particularly health).
Yeah, because of bad personal experiences.
quote:

Electronic Arts is one of the most hated companies in America.
Yeah, but not because of their products.
quote:

But I agree that it's weird to hate a company whose product you don't own.
Exactly. That's why the fact that so many people say they hate Tesla stands out. I have yet to see an actual Tesla owner say they hate their vehicle or the company. It is always in the context of "subsidies blah blah" by people who don't own one, and they completely ignore the fact that their favorite car companies were extended the same exact subsidies.

Like I said earlier. Your fixation on the word “hate” is extremely strange. Do I “hate” Tesla in that I get extremely pissed and just can’t contain my anger? frick no. That’s stupid as frick.

I use the word “hate” in the “i really dislike them”. You’re making a mountain out of an anthill and it’s quite strange.

Look, I am far from the only person to notice the absurd number of people who say they hate Tesla, and the almost complete lack of people who say they hate other car companies (when they have never owned the vehicle). Your attempt to turn it around as if I'm the weird one doesn't change that.

Cool.

Legitimately any thread about any car company is going to have people coming in and shitting on that company. Ford. Chevy. GMC. Kia. Does. Not. Matter.

Your fascination with the word hate is absolutely weird.

Serious question, do you think that because I said I hate Tesla that Tesla has any affect on my life? Like do you think my blood pressure rises, I get flushed, etc when I see a Tesla?

Eh maybe, but not enough to worry about. I'm definitely not posting on TD for financial gain.

But you are taking exception to my taking exception to your comment just as hard as I have taken exception!

Yes, and that will be people who either previously or currently own the vehicle, and either had a bad experience with the product or customer service. Or its the typical playful shite-talking among brand fanatics.

The Tesla hate always pertains to subsidies, and it reeks of misinformation and propaganda. You are literally the first person I have ever heard say they hate the vehicles (aside from the truck).

There is no fascination with the word hate. My fascination is with the number of people who hate the company but have zero experience with the products.

I'm sorry if it wasn't clear, so let me try to make it so: the people who shite on Tesla almost always do so in the context of subsidies, yourself included. This is irrational hate because Tesla has not received any special treatment. Every other manufacturer is taking advantage of the same tax credits, albeit at a slower rate, but that's their choice.

I don't have some weird fascination with a particular word. Rather, it is a fascination with the quite obvious trend that we can all see. And, in my opinion, that trend is best explained by a propaganda campaign. Do you disagree?

I didn't mean any of this as an attack on you (or your choice of words ). It's just that there is a very obvious anti-Tesla campaign going on that revolves around a set of irrational and incorrect talking points, and you happened to get caught up in it when I decided to call it out.

Well, that has a lot to do with optics as well. Tesla’s entire fleet are EV, and with that comes the optics that the govt is playing a heavy hand in propping it up. Add in all the issues Tesla has had over the years poor Elon has quite a lot of shite publicity.

Fair enough.

The subsidies aren’t the main reason for my “hate” for Tesla though. I just really dislike the design, have extremely little faith in EVs at this stage and disagree with the govt propping up the EV sector. Being that Tesla is all EVs where as the other brands might have one or two options, that plays into my feelings towards the company as a whole, and as stated earlier I have no qualms saying the exact same about any other company taking money from the govt.

I hate all govt assistance. The feds should deal with national security, foreign policy, and ensuring the citizens rights aren’t trampled That’s it. . I firmly believe they have no place meddling in business affairs or propping up any industry.

Not at all. People are easily swayed by propaganda. I do try to be consistent in my beliefs though, especially when it comes to govt handouts of any form.

How so?

Calling himself a founder. He was very important in getting Tesla to market, he wasn't a founder.

This was quite a high profile deal. If it was truly a scam, I'd expect to see some charges.

Pretty good lawsuit about it. Should head to trial unless Tesla settles. They will probably settle.

Not sure what his personal life and vices have to do with anything.
No issue with them. He feels the need to lie about his drug use really often though.

Lies about safety issues

Like what?

Dismissing the union mongering shite, which makes me not believe either side, there have been several credible safety violations and findings despite Musk feeling the need to dismiss it all.

Uhh, yeah they do. Everything Electronic Arts does is a blatant cash grab, whether its buying a beloved studio and ruining it or putting more and more content behind microtransaction paywalls.

I just don't understand how people can justify buying these things when they take hours to recharge.
You just can't take road trips in these things.
