From the costumes, I would guess Logan's Run, but I don't remember that being a TV show.

Correct - There was a tv series in 1977, but they only made 14 episodes. I remember the show, but didn’t realize it was that short lived until I looked it up.

have mixed feelings about electric cars replacing the IC engines of today. I can’t defend it,
Cant defend it? It is easy to defend IC engines...... I can drive from coast to coast without having to wait hours while batteries charge. Where is the power coming from that charge all these cars... oohh yea burning fossil fuels. Dont be fooled into thinking all this electricity is made by wind turbines and solar panels. Look if officials really wanted the cleanest, most efficient power generation there is, there would be nuclear power plants everywhere.

oohh dont forget about all the plastics that had to be made from oil and refined to make all these electric batteries and parts for these cars/trucks. the footprint of an electric vehicle is way more than a normal vehicle.

The Rivian's window strength can't compare to the Cyber Truck's.

If you saw the demo that may actually be a compliment.

The drop in range for a given load will be very similar to the drop for a traditional ICE truck.

There are legit reasons to shite on EVs, but anything to do with towing is NOT one of them. Electric motors have gobs of torque through the entire RPM range. You can pick literally any other aspect of an EV and have a more valid complaint than this one.

kork....i took this as a shite on the battery capacity. not the torque in electric motors. I thought it was common knowledge electric motors were the go to for torque. All modern train locomotives are electric they just have huge diesel generators

Not sure why Tesla won't publish towing numbers. Unless they really are that bad.

Tesla will sell some of these, but the price is going to limit the numbers severely.

they will be. the current technology batteries just isnt there to sustain a vehicle. Until something like carbon chain batteries become something that can be built, you cant have a vehicle with a decent range.

The Cybertruck as a large SUV would be something I would like to see. Market might be better for it as well.

Also the $39K model only has about a 250 mile range and takes a long time to charge.

A loaded out platinum is on par with the bottom of the line Tesla. There are many Platinums on the road, I agree.

Tesla can't compete with anything lower than the Platinum edition when you pair costs. How many barely base model F150s do you see?

I hope the Tesla market isn't the F150, they will get destroyed.

That Telsa truck might be the ugliest vehicle I've ever seen other than maybe the Pontiac Aztek

They don't post towing numbers?

Literally the only information they have on there website is range, towing capacity and price. Not one of them is 70+

250+ range 7,500lb+ towing 39,900
400+ range 10,000lb+ towing 49,900
500+ range 14%,000lb + towing 69,900

I guess I think about worst case scenario. Having gone through Katrina and other events when power was out for extended periods, I'm partial to a gas powered vehicle.
It can be hard to get gas during extreme events, too.

But if you're really concerned about this, then you should definitely get an electric vehicle. Because you have the option to "fuel up" with the sun.

Where can you charge the Rivian?

At home, and I'm sure they will be set or have adaptors to charge around town.

But there won't be a supercharging network obviously, but that goes for every vehicle that isn't a Tesla at this point.
