I bet there is a lot missing from this story - sounds like a bunch of bs

I doubt it. I don't see what the problem is, the dude bought a 60, Tesla sold a brand new 60, just bc that car caught a technician sleeping sometime over its lifespan doesn't mean this dude's customer is entitled to it.

While I don't think it's ideal to need a huge social media push to get things accomplished, thanks to the momentum this thread has generated it seems like we've got a path forward with Tesla towards getting this taken care of the right way.
And for the record I hate, with a passion, this practice of crippling products via software that is infecting many industries. But as it turns out, the economics work out such that it's cheaper to build products the same and set pricing levels via artificial limitations. So who am I to argue with the perfection of capitalism?

Have fun being Elon’s drone baw. You’re stuck to the grid. Enjoy!
And you’re not?

Every car has software installed. They are all governed by computers and will all be connected to the grid. That is inescapable.

Car is sold twice since, and now has a new owner (my customer). It says 90, badged 90, has 90-type range.
I bet the title on the vehicle he purchased said 60.
It does not matter if the sales ad says 90. It does not matter if the badging on the car says 90. It does not matter if the range equals a 90.
What does your car title say sir?
Which is why he will lose this case unless Tesla just wants to be nice.

I don’t think you know what “off grid” means if you are driving around in an EV.

Imagine a fully electrified auto world with OTA network connected vehicles the next time a government mandated lockdown is issued.
The most astute observation in this thread. It's coming someday to, many of us may not live to see it but it is coming

It's a subscription service now.

This is the future of automobiles. Micro transactions are the worst, but coming soon. I saw BMW will now require a subscription to use the heated seats. (Beta rollout in Korea I think, not US. Yet)

A world of micro transactions

This is why governments want so badly to go to electric vehicles and trains as the staples of personal movement.
The power to limit, tax, and if necessary, eliminate your movement is something they all greatly covet.

He means you can generate your own power realistically.
WTF does “ they want to keep you on the grid” even mean in the context of ICE vs EV? What functional difference of dependency on the larger network between gas and superchargers.

Dipshit owner 3 got a bank error in his favor, prob upwards of $25k.
Because his cell phone didn’t work hands free he let them access which showed them the mistake and it cost him. Fool.

So if someone swapped a 5.0 V8 in a mustang, sold it to someone else who then took it to ford for service, you'd be okay with Ford swapping the engine or otherwise messing with it without telling the owner because the car wasn't sold that way originally? We cant upgrade things we own anymore?

Dude wtf… and I thought I was pissed when I discovered my car was leaking gas this week, only cost me $1,400 Only! Ha, well better than leaking $4.50 gas all over town.
