My bad, but this topic was central do Donald Trumps campaign and subsequently has been one of first topics he has acted on with an executive order.

So the answer is I am talking trump is because he is talking terrorism and this is a terrorism related political thread.

Trump has lost control of London terror attacks

The early returns don't look good He accused his predecessor of a federal offense with no evidence.

I'll back off of him now but it's not hard to see that he isn't getting better like I had hoped.

He went there as the Soviets were already leaving but from what I understand there was still some fighting.

Dude, you jumped into a movie in the third act. Do I look like IGAF if you understand the plot and who the characters are?

Because as a free society we offer up a light to the rest of the world that says "We are the answer". Come here. While .01% of those refugees could be radical, there are thousands who aren't.

It's sad but this isn't a coca cola teach the world to sing commercial. Some ideologies are poison to western society and don't deserve to be allowed in our country. It's just a fact and actions like today don't help their cause in most peoples eyes. We have enough problems already without possibly creating another one.

Why do we have to assume that bringing people here is best for them and us? Maybe it is in some cases, but maybe it isn't in others. Things have changed when people take advantage of refugee programs to gain access to a country and carry out a terrorist attack. It's a totally f'd up situation and I understand the concerns of both sides, and I don't think people should think ill of people on the other side. Both have good intentions.

How did the US contribute to Al-Qaeda or ISIS? Your correlation doesn't equal causation. Yes, the US supported the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan and all of those other militias, that, however, doesn't mean that they contributed to the formation of ISIS.

The US used Afghani soldiers as a means to prevent Soviet strongholds in the context of the Cold War. We didn't give a damn about the Afghani people. That was evident when we pretty much when we left. Do you think the people, the soldiers we trained, are just going to forget about it? Come on.

Take Iraq today. We are funding and providing weapons to groups to combat ISIS, which is basically by some accounts turning into a genocide of Sunnis. Do you think the Sunnis are going to forget that? We are sowing seeds of contempt. It's the lack of foresight which causes us to deal with these problems.

And, if you had ever listened to al-Zarqawi or Bin Laden, they fricking said it over and over again.

I hear ya. I really do.

Most Muslims, while not being actively violent, don't condemn the actions of the violent ones. I see where you are coming from, but we have Muslims already here and our society hasn't fallen apart yet.

There's a theory I've heard that the magic number is 20%. Once Muslims are 20%, they'll form voting blocs and organize and really affect things. France will soon be there and we'll see how that goes.

But how does that contribute to the creation of ISIS? That's their problem. They have the free will to do whatever they want. They can just brush it off and live another day.

You're missing my point here. What I'm saying is that the motives of individuals aren't created from the source of the reaction. Everyone has a choice to make. If I call you a bitch in person and you punch me, does that mean I'm at fault? Does that mean I contributed to you punching me? I might have done something to offend you. That doesn't mean you should have punched me and it doesn't mean I contributed to you punching me. You're the one who carried out the action. You're the one who made the choice. You contributed to your own action.

The US has offended tons of people. Does that mean they contributed to them retaliating? No.

ETA: even if we're not going on the basis of motive, you still have to prove that the US physcially contributed to the formation of ISIS which there is no proof of.

Let's not get into this "well he did it first" BS like that's an excuse. Seriously, we shouldn't have to use the logic of a six year-old to defend the actions of the leader of the free world. He's a big boy now.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi? He fought in the Soviet-Aghan War. Osama bin Laden? Both associated with the Mujahideen. They split after the war, both pissed with America after it was obvious we had no interest in the power vacuum once Soviet Russia was out of Afganistan. al-Zarqawi was the most bat shite crazy guy, created ISIS. Osama created al Qaeda.

Zarqawi actually didn't arrive in Afghanistan until the fighting was pretty much done. The U.S. had basically dick all to do with him until he was on our radar after the Millennium plot in Amman was foiled in 1999.

Probably the most direct thing we did to enable ISIS
(besides toppling the regime in the first place) was arresting guys like al Khlifawi, al Hiyali, and al Dulaimi and putting them all in Bucca together (along with al Baghdadi, it should be noted). A lot of them were connected through the Air Defense intel network under Saddam.

Just read a bit. There aren't enough hours in the day for us to argue over the US role in the middle east as it relates to terrorism. This article is pretty accurate.

quote:

Insead of saying the US contributed to creating ISIS just say that the US influences every single action that takes place in this world.

So you're arguing to argue. We actually agree. Good to know.

quote:

Did they help create a long process butterfly effect in which ISIS formed out of? Sure. So did the fall of the Byzantine Empire.

Are you saying the Byzantine Empire created or contributed heavily to ISIS?

Now you're just being daft because you're bored or something.

Technically the Ottoman Empire falling had a far greater effect.
