No it's not semantics. All of those words have completely different meanings. Influence is entirely different from contribution or creation. Your word choice is appalling.

It seems to me that's what you're trying to do.

You and Sabi then used the word contribute. Don't act like you've been saying influence this entire time. All of those words have completely different meanings.
Surely you aren't serious

Three triple murders in a month in NOLA. Call me when the Brits get woke.

they are nearly interchangeable. Again, you're being ridiculous.
Wow.

I don't have to cover my arse. The facts are out there. I can't help what lens you choose to look at them through.
The US heavily influenced and/or contributed to the creation of ISIS.
And if you call someone a bitch to their face, you do share some of the blame when you get punched in the face.

He's clearly either trying to cover his arse or he was trolling all along
No way he actually believes that contribute and influence have completely different meanings in this context

At least be intellectually honest with yourself and admit that Obama never accused Trump of collaborating with the Russians.
Jesus, between this discussion and the discussion of word meaning with the other guys, this thread is fricked.

don't give up just yet. More people are just now showing up. Let's keep going. Please, elaborate as to how having an influence on creating ISIS is so vastly different than contributing to the creation of ISIS.
And please, for the love of God, omit the Ethics 101 day 1 lecture on human choice that everyone on this board is well aware of.
And while you're at it, answer my question as to how and why ISIS was created, since you seem to believe you have the answers. Specifics please.

This is the crux of the entire debate and where we have a fundemental disagreement instead of arguing over word choice.
I firmly believe that action and influence have no moral equivalency. If a person insults you and you hit them, there is no blame on the person who insulted you to me. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. Action is the only thing I care about. I don't care about who influenced you to do anything. I care about what you do with that influence.

Extremist Sunnis in Iraq and Syria (and elsewhere) were feeling (and have always felt) oppressed and decided to create a religious caliphate. It's the same shite different day in the Middle East. It's a conflict that goes back hundreds of years.

Don't start no shite won't be no shite.
They have completely different meanings regardless of the context.
ETA: it's not my fault that you guys don't know the difference between influence and contribute.

(not aimed at you but you're the last reply ITT...)
There is a thread on the PT whining about London hashtags. Seriously, the milquetoast Trumpkakke PT is triggered about hashtags during an event.
For the OT ('cuz I'm banned on the PT) if you saw #PrayForBRPD or #PrayForNOLA #Katrina, would you be triggered?
Is empathy and/or a lack of awareness the world is a large place totally extinct?
