Well it didn't take the usual suspects too long to chime in . . .

I'll absolutely admit that I hope attackers aren't white.
It's primarily because I have certain things I believe absolutely, like white supremacy being a pretty thin threat in America, and Muslim radicalism being a more significant one.
When that Roof shithead murdered those black churchgoers, it didn't really change that assessment. But it makes selling the argument, which I think is still very sound, harder to do. Primarily because the "other side" is eager to pick up that football and run with it in the ever-continuing effort to promote the fricking moronic idea that all cultures and religions present the same value and risk to society.

I think y'all are saying the same thing just differently.

I don't know why you are implying I sympathize with ISIS. That is fricking idiotic. Read my posts. This is common knowledge. Get off your soap box. We all know members of isis choose to join Isis and are people. But you're choosing to be ignorant to facts at this point.
Well don't say the US created ISIS then

We are. Semantics on language at this point. And he initially probably thought he'd get me with a zinger by making me acknowledge Hillary and Obama had a lot to do with where we are now. But obviously I agree with that point.
Full disclosure, I didn't vote for Schillary.

Exactly how I feel. Well said.

we are living in a world where politicians and leaders are afraid to face the problems which worry a lot of people. Seeing these types of attacks is awful but maybe this will shake politicians away from the PC on steroids mindset which is doing nothing to protect the public.
I am so happy to have this debate! You don't know how overjoyed I am to intellectually speak on topics of politics and get coherent responses that are hard to argue against while being quite reasonable.
"Snowflake" is hard to argue against but isn't that reasonable of an argument.
This is what the poli board SHOULD be.
Having been satisfied I will bow out with the summary of my position.
I too was mad at Obama for not labeling obvious Islamis terrorism as exactly what it was. It's rediculous and insulting to intelligent Americans.
I, however, am very cognizant of the fact that our current political leaders have used this fact to motivate a base largely by overemphasizing the actual threat to Americans by radical Muslims. They are now going too far in the delegitimizing of our free press while offering up libelous "facts" to the world at large using social media.
Tl;Dr I agree with you but the head guy in charge now is a fricking narassitic moron that is a blight on our tenants our democracy is built on.
Later guys

You two spent an entire thread debating me then confirmed you were the exact people I was talking about.
I love how your fear of Muslims has lead you to believe that there is only one greater truth.

Many in Germany probably thought the same way as you. Now look at them. The buyers remorse is off the charts yet their idiotic leader continues to double down with the lives of her citizenry.

Now admit it's the same reason you hope it's not Muslims? We already have templates in Germany and Sweden with what happens when you flood your country with people that refuse to assimilate with western culture. Why would we want that?

I'm not afraid of Muslims at all. And the only thing we debated on is your misunderstanding of the identity of terrorists in the United States.
Your responses contribute to exactly the sort of shallow dialogue you claim to hate.
I think our security state is overkill. I think most people should get over the Muslim threat in large part, because it's dumb to live your life in fear of the exception. I think this board largely regurgitates conservative talking points on Islam in lieu of actually coming to conclusions for themselves. Which is weird, because you can appreciate some of the nuances at issue WHILE still speaking about radical Islam and the threats posed.
I believe all of that, and guess what, I STILL think radical Islam is by far the most destructive terroristic ideology on the planet. And that position is easily supported. Your attempt to view everything in black and white renders you no different than the "DIRKA DIRKA UK HAD IT COMING" types on Poli.

The US did contribute heavily to the creation of ISIS, and it is ignorant to think otherwise. Again, this is common knowledge at this point. And to imply someone that actually understands this is sympathizing with ISIS is just fricking dumb. Don't be so simple minded, it's a complex world out there.

We wanted to oust Assad and they were willing to take our weapons and give it a shot for us. Then the dog got off the chain and started biting everybody it could. Bad dog.

I think you both make a lot of very good points.

SEE? There's a good example of a strawman. You are asking me to argue that the German allowance of unvetted immigrants across their boarders didn't contribute to the subsequent terrorist attacks on their soil and I can't possibly do that!
You are learning what a true strawman is and using it correctly. As in the statement you just made has nothing to do with the price or tea in China.
What you just said has nothing to do with Americans, America's immigrant vetting policy pre-Trump, or the likelihood of an American being shot by a Muslim over any other type of mass murder.
ETA: dammit, I was out of here but I just had to show you what a strawman argument was really all about.
