Just looking at the photo, I assumeded they were typical double-chinned LP residents...
Why is the USA getting so damn fat?

Why a bad idea? I just read the article and already forgot their names. I guarantee I won't be the only one.

yea with it being split three ways, its not near as big of a deal now, they have had multiple 500,000,000 winners in the past and that is now all it amounts to.

Calorie dense diets and low daily energy expenditure.
Anyway they look like nice people.

Had they won the entire thing by themselves, maybe not. But they basically won a 500 million dollar jackpot. Its happened before.

The family then reached out to a friend for financial advice and was put in touch with Joe Townsend, an estate planning and tax attorney in Memphis who had the idea for them to reveal themselves on TODAY.
"I think the American public wants to hear from them, and even though they want to be private after this is over, they want to let the public know that they're the winners,'' Townsend said on TODAY.
Townsend, who is a big TODAY fan, had his daughter, Eileen, reach out to the show to see if the couple could make the announcement on Friday. The Robinsons had only told only their son, daughter, two brothers and mother-in-law about their potential windfall before Friday.
This is pretty funny when you think about all the people here who said they'd get a lawyer to represent them and claim the prize so no one would ever know who they were.

What makes it different? Winning half a billion isn't special enough?

Honestly, they're some of the most normal looking lottery winners I've ever seen.

Once again the fat get fatter.

I think it must be interesting times down in that small town in Florida these days. Just imagine living in a town of 3k and thinking someone here won that jackpot. I'm sure the rumor mill is pumping strong. (This assumes that a local bought the ticket, but I'm sure everyone there assumes that already)

I find the lawyer that advised them to go on national TV to be a moron

Why?

Because everyone these people will ever see again is going to recognize them and hit them up for money. Duh, it's so obvious

Im saying if you go from no one to a Billionaire winning the biggest jackpot of all time, maybe you dont want all the publicity. If you win a 500 million dollar jackpot you're now one of a couple dozen to do that. There isnt as much notoriety.
