Was talking to my great aunt over the weekend and found out something interesting I never knew about her dad. He ran a grocery store, but he was also a bootlegger. He and his brothers distilled brandy and whiskey and were apparently very good at it. Unfortunately, when my great grandma's house burned down several years ago, their recipes were lost.

My great-grandfather murdered my great-grandmother and left their 5 kids orphaned. This happened in the early 1930s.

My great grandmother's grandmother was a Choctaw medicine woman. She would take my great grandmother out in the woods with her looking for plants to make poultices and such.

My great uncle was a fighter pilot in World world II
Near the English Channel his plane crashed head on with the enemy, killing him
My uncle was in Vietnam and was killed in combat at the young age of 19. My dad gave me his name.

If your great grandpa burned the house down to kill his wife, yours and Comanche’s stories both have a twist.

My stories:
Great great aunts told the family they were going to Europe to be nurses during WWI. Never returned home. Much later it was discovered they went to NOLA and worked in a brothel.

A great great great grandfather was collecting moss from a tree to stuff pillows and fell to his death.

A branch of the family was run out of Stone Mountain, GA, for bootlegging.

Gov Earl Long caused a car accident with a family member while driving down Airline Hwy. The Gov was riding with Blaze Starr and didn't want any attention that day. My relative sized up the situation, told the Gov to go about his way. A few days later a political handler contacted my relative and said the Governor extends his appreciation and took care of the expenses.

In Southwest MS, there was a bar where drugs were rampant and murders were frequent. Owner cared less to stop the trouble and it was causing problems in the community.

My grandpops helped organize an effort. By effort I mean they torpedoed that bar with C4 and he sat on the front porch with my aunt to listen to the explosions.

I have the same name as my father, his father, his grandfather, and his great-grandfather, making me the 5th.

...and I have no sons, only 2 girls.
