we bit it this year when my wife had foot surgery and had 10k out of pocket from $120k total bill. but i've saved $700 a month for 5 years by not going cadillac. 700*12*5= 52k+

I used to work at a place with a PPO and an Consumer Care plan. As far as I could tell, there was no potential medical bill where the PPO would have been a better choice once you factored in the premium savings for a full year of the cheapest plan.

I'm pretty sure they're required to post it on the stub as fringe benefits or something like that.

Mine isn’t on my stub. I can look up a total compensation report though that shows employer share of the insurance.

The total cost of your plan per month is much more relevant, and you're paying for it one way or another.

The total cost of your plan is a cost to your employer. If that cost was lower, one would assume there would be more room for profits and higher wages for employees. It's not much different than higher taxes or energy costs.

I believe you’re correct.

Sure, but it doesn’t mean you’ll get higher wages. Like with the Trump tax cuts, you saw some businesses giving raises, but not all. I work for Jews, we didn’t see a dime.

Depends on you definition of free as an owner technically. Profit vs. happier employees.

There is no guarantee all of the savings would be passed on to you, of course. However, the free market usually dictates that some/most of it will.
