Might have been sprint that sucked. ATT didn’t skip a beat, though.

We just made the switch from ATT to Verizon this morning.
My work iPad is with Verizon and the reason we switched is because after Ida, ATT service failed miserably, and the only communication we had with the outside world was with my company issued ipad on Verizon.
Also I’m tired of not being able to check scores and highlights in Tiger Stadium during commercial breaks, while the Verizon guy nearby can stream games on his phone in the stadium.

Those frickers are charging me $234/month for 3 phones. That was when I had u-verse and internet with them. Now that I got rid of their tv it will probably be more.

I have had them since 1999. Over 25 years. I had service for Katrina, Gustav, Ida and all the others. I have the unlimited data plan for like $55 month and no complaints. Also, if you link to a debit card / checking acct, they give you 10% of your bill. My family has 3 lines, so it's a decent savings.
I'm sure their is less suppliers, but my understanding is whether ATT, T Mobile and others, is that the service is inconsistent outside of the metro areas of B Rouge or New Orleans. I need service anywhere I am, rural, urban, highway, etc. and the provide that (VZ)

If you can create a PayPal Key you can link a credit card and the PayPal Key will be used as a debit card. So you'll still get the discount for using a debit card and you'll get credit card bonuses. I use the Chase Ink Cash which has 5% back for phone and internet.

If you buy your phones on your own, be sure to check out verizon "prepaid."
In some cases it's WAY cheaper especially, when you reach your 9th month. I pay in the $50's for two phones currently.

What is this? How is it different from a normal plan?

i've had a cell phone with Verizon and its predecessors (Cellular one?)since your contract provided for 30 minutes free and overages were about 50 cents per minute. in those days phones were cheap, and they would give you accessories just to keep you active.
i usually have great service and have never been in a situation where i had weak service and someone else had great service with another carrier. Every time i break or wear out a phone, they're happy to sell me another for $1,000. i don't like the price, but the service is excellent.

These are the differences with Verizon Prepaid off the top of my head:
1) You are not locked into a contract and pay month-to-month
2) You "prepay" in advance for the month instead of being billed at the end of the month
3) You only pay a few fees and taxes as opposed to 3 pages you have with contracts (making it much cheaper)
4) You get discounts the longer you stay with them (and if you have more than 1 line)
5) You don't have options for discounted phones
ATT also offers prepaid. There is a reason they don't advertise these...they want you to be stuck in a contract paying more money.

I wake up every morning and smile because I don't have to give any money to AT&T.
I pay more for my Verizon plan and I don't even mind. frick AT&T.

I remember being downtown and in the FQ after the Saints won the SB and my phone was useless with AT&T. Friends that had Verizon were able to get calls/texts, but my texts did not come through until I left the FQ around 2-3am. That weekend went to AT&T to complain, and they proceeded to blame Katrina. Went down the street to Verizon that day to switch to them and haven't looked back.

Call their customer service...if you'd rather talk to Jeff with a heavy Indian accent use AT&T, else call Verizon and get Linda's who speak English with various US accents depending on the time and location of the call center you get.

I've been with Verizon for 20 years now and never had a problem. But there are more Verizon towers in my area than any other and that helps.

Verizon is the best if you’re in SELA it seems. Worked great for me during Ida, and also works great during LSU football games. Only place it didn’t work for me, was whenever I went to LaPlace a day after the storm, and it didn’t matter what service you had over there, it wasn’t going to work

Just moved to it from AT&T. It's pretty much the same except a little cheaper and I know that it won't fail during a natural disaster like AT&T does regularly.
BTW I'm convinced AT&T is trying to purposely shed customers. Not exactly sure why but it's seeming more and more probable. I don't know if they're trying to get out of some areas of service or spin others off to just get rid of it, or what.
