Why pass up Taos? It’s very good skiing and even closer than Colorado.

What followed your quote of me:

though there are decent options in northern NM to consider for that.

Though I'll admit I don't know the NM resorts to actually comment on any of them by name.

I hear the cost of living in San Jose isn't that bad.

BTW, one of my favorite places to eat is the Tesuque Village Market.

I see that Santa Fe is booming. Ugh...I’ve visited many times. It WAS a hidden gem of sorts, I guess not much anymore.

So...outsiders are taking over. Guess that’s another state that will be taken by a certain leaning group. If all these places are getting taken over, where are the places they’re leaving?

Houses are terrible looking (flat roof construction) and overpriced 300k for a simple POS house. Also, ghetto people from ABQ coming in with the Elderly "American" tourist (Harley , vintage car, rv driving types). I'd pass, better places to move to.

Like the ghetto, it seems to proliferate beyond what is numerically possible

In laws live in Colorado so it’s where we stop on our way to see them for the past 18 years. Basically picture people in there 60’s with green, purple and pink hair also guys that old with Dredlocks on occasion. They look poor but drive around in expensive cars so they appear to have money. Granola as they come. Nothing pretty about that place imo. Also if you go to the Starbucks in the “downtown square” you won’t find a seat all the homeless ppl are sitting in there.

Beautiful area of New Mexico. Delicious beer options, especially amongst the breweries 45 Minutes away in Albuquerque.

Food...ehh...depends what you’re looking for.

Extremely left wing up there. Lots of anti-oil & gas idiots who doing realize that the royalties and monies from industry activity on State Lands funds the K-12 education system.

Mountains nearby are beautiful, and it’s hilly and high elevation so good running training if you’d like that sort of thing.

Overall, I love visiting when I head up there a few times a year for business. Would really like to take a getaway weekend with the wife there, but no thanks on living there.

So are Santa Fe people moving now that they are being taken over by outsiders?

Very liberal, higher cost of living comparable to New Mexico, very "artsy", has a snooty vibe to me, you have to pay for plastic bags when you grocery shop and ask for a straw when eating out.

If you move there, check out Eldorado to live. 15 minutes outside of town, less traffic, lower crime, lower housing cost.

Ski Apache in Ruidoso isn't bad, but its way south of Albuquerque.

ETA: but if you did hit up Ski Apache, you are within a 2 hr drive of White Sands National Monument, the Valley of the Fires, Roswell, and most importantly Lincoln, because I was in New Mexico around the time Young Guns 2 was released and i found it really cool to see where Billy the Kid actually became famous. as you walk through town there are random historical markers randomly all over the ground that read "here lies jim killed by Billy the Kid on this date 187O something". Really neat to me.

Also about a 3 hr drive from Carlsbad Caverns, one of the most impressive cave system I've been to.
