lawyer convinces a jury that the teenager perceived pedophilia, rape, whatever as a sexual orientation.....

Unless the guy tried to molest him in anyway then yes he should be charged with assault and battery, along with a hate crime. The sex offender has served his time and is currently registered with local law enforcement. Vigilante justice is against the law. This guy may have done his crime 10 years ago or longer. I say throw the book at the teen.

Shouldn't be charged with a hate crime but he should be charged with battery. What if the guy he beat up wasn't really the sex offender he thought he was but looked very similar to him.

The hate crime laws are dumb. If you feel the need to beat the shite out of someone there is probably some hate going on their no matter their color or background.

registry is stupid. If youre still supposed to pay for your crime, leave them in prison or on parole.
