Typical response My wife is a VP of HR but has a lot of ops experience and M&A experience so she carries her weight. Within the 1st year she saved her company more than her salary, bonus and sign on bonus by changing a few things.

I work for one of the more popular (in tech) ATS providers. The HR leaders who pay for our SaaS solution are mostly complete retards who I wouldn’t trust to have a hand in any meaningful hiring decisions.

I don't know what HR does at our firm except tell me I can't talk to employees "like that"...saying things like, "your about to miss two critical deadlines because you created busy work to make me think you're overloaded when I know you're not. So I cleared your schedule of all other jobs until you unfrick yourself out of this hole. How can i help?" ...that kind of shite.

I call bullshite on this.

It’s a lot cooler to say you can find good people than to admit you can’t afford to hire people.

This is clickbait.

I applied for a job, went on several levels of interviews, then received a text at 4 a.m. that the job went to someone else. It was in bot-speak. One of my kids is going to school planning to go into HR (hey, it’s what their personality is suited for and the field isn’t going anywhere.) I was like “this is what not to do when you start working.”

They are also much more likely to spend money on 3rd party platforms to make their jobs easier. They also spend most of their time trying to find other nonsensical work for managers to do for no other purpose except to justify the genius HR coordinator that came up with the idea in the first place.

I have always found that splitting HR and Recruiting is always best and to outsource recruiting to 3rd parties. They have an incentive to find the best candidate for the job so it's a win-win, even if you pay a premium for the service.

I was rejected through the portal hiring system and found not qualified. My classmate who told me about the job hand delivered my resume to the hiring manager. The manager told him my resume was exactly what they were looking for, Got the job offer after one interview and start next month.

HR can eat a bag of dicks. I once had a chick ask me why I was Sysco certified when I worked in IT. It took me a minute to realize she didn’t know the difference between Sysco and Cisco.

She was thinking of Sisqó.

In my career these have without a doubt been the most expendable people. Not knocking HR because the scenery is usually great or was.

There’s certainly something off about the story. I’ve never seen a company org chart that authorizes a tech lead to fire half of HR because he disagrees with their talent outreach.

This has been my point multiple times about all the BS jobs out there saying college degree required

You absolutely DO NOT need a college degree to do HR.

HR for a company needs to be someone who has been in the company for quite some time and knows how the company actually works and what it needs.

The two most worthless individuals that couldn’t actually cut it in the real world outside their special niche are HR and talentless waiters/baristas with tattoos and piercings everywhere that work at trendy restaurants.

Correct. They're glorified secretaries.

I hire technologists just like these. I have to pre-recruit and then monitor the submissions in WorkDay because HR people do exactly this. I’ll even warn candidates they may get rejected.

I’ve taught other hiring managers how to navigate HR talent acquisition. It’s a required skill unless you want to interview highly unqualified candidates or no candidates.

I'd also like to know why HR is in on most interviews? WTF? Just send out the monthly newsletter and send me the email to remind me to do the yearly "Don't tell Brenda she has a nice rack" class online.

My boss was a huge simp and thought hiring them would get him browning points.

The first couple of times I saw this, I chalked it up to a typo or autocorrect, but I’ve seen it enough times that I now wonder if people don’t know it’s brownie points rather than browning points.
