I worked at Tinseltown. They are still in existence. They moved to Perkins Rowe. UA did not choke them. There was a rule that if there are competitive movie theatres within a certain radius, the studio films would alternate. Let's say Warner Bros has a summer blockbuster coming out UA on Siegen would get it first. Then the next Warner Bros big film ( usually a holiday movie) Tinseltown would get it. Of course if they change the date of the film it would throw off the schedule. Tinseltown was supposed to have Titanic when it first came out but they moved it from a summer to Christmas showing. Therefore Tinseltown lost out. I have seen so much at that place. Definitely a lot of memories. Jerry Maguire was the longest running movie at that place.

What was the other movie theater on Siegan on the other side of the interstate back in the day?

We just called it the Seigan Theater, not sure what the official name was. I remember when that was the nice theater in town.

Do ya'll remember when Seigan lane was just 2 lanes and the were constructing the additional lines on each side? The middle section was raised like 4 feet from the other sections being constructed.

Siegen Village Cinema 10, a United Artists theater. It was next to the Office Depot. I remember when it was a big deal 'cause it had 10 screens.

Anyone remember Essen Cinema? Loved that one too.

And Broadmoor Theater still stands, like a grizzled old gunfighter just waiting for somebody to finally ride into town and take him down.

Next month it happens

That place was THE place to see a movie not that long ago. It's crazy how fast things change.

Was it even open 10 years? BR is so fricking goofy with how fickle it can be.

I would love to put an amphitheater either there or on some of the undeveloped property by the Mall of Louisiana. Both are prime real estate options adjacent to the interstate.

Next to six lanes of traffic moving at 80 mph is prime real estate for an open air theater?

Wish we had a minor league team. That would be a good spot for a ballpark

Too difficult to get in and out of there. It's why the dev isn't successful.

Yep, it had 4 screens if I remember correctly. We used to sneak in the theaters mid-movie from the emergency exits in the backside of the buildings.

Somebody needs to warn the workers if they're not from here. If they find that old lady still sitting in the ticket booth and tell her she has to leave, they might have a "Large Marge" situation.

Spent many a Friday night there... think I saw Can't Buy Me Love four times because it was the only PG movie playing for a short while. Saw a food fight at the pizza place (Gatti's I believe). Some guy got pissed about something and threw the salad bowl at the girl behind the counter. She came out and threw the ranch dressing on the guy. Then it was tomatoes, etc. They were slipping and falling because of all the dressing on the floor.

In terms of access for potential visitors from outside of Baton Rouge, yes.

Noise barriers exist for a reason.

Yep. Trying to remember what building it was in, or where on Essen it was located. I was a little kid and not very aware of my surroundings.

I remember clearly they had a Double Dribble arcade game in there.

Caught a few flicks there.

They used to have a Pizzaria Uno in there back then as well.
