Hawaii is currently in a teaching shortage and hiring certified teachers at 60k a year. There is a moving expense attached to that as well but it is not really that much.

Would you move to Hawaii for 65k a year?

Not a chance in hell. I lived there for 3 years and hated it with a passion. I'm not military either.

Not Oahu.

I lived on Oahu for 4 years.

Other islands, perhaps.

I'm looking at a KHON article stating a study put Hawaii welfare benefits at $60,000 a year for a mother of 2.

So no.

If I were young and a recent grad, you bet your arse id go. Hell even if you cash in your chips after a couple of years, you still spent a couple years of your life on Hawaii. The outdoor opportunities there are very unique. Great way to add some color to your life IMO.

If you're young and a teacher, I'd do it for a year or two ... I'm a teacher and one of the benefits is the ability, relatively speaking, to move around a bit ... Not everyone has to be an ot baller (on the Internet) ...

Is this even a question? Unless you're going to follow up your original post with a list of negatives, hurry up and accept.
