Um if the floor grade is 50%, that won’t happen.

This kid will end up hating life when he figures out the real world has consequences

I respectfully disagree. This kid is being taught that he doesn't have to be accountable for his actions, and the government will take care of him. In his mind, why put forth effort when social promotion will pass him on to the next grade level ? Once he enters the real world, he will be primed to take advantage of the welfare system supported by tax payers. He will be a sperm donor and the cycle continues for the next generation of kids.

Regardless if the student is a male or female, the same aforementioned logic applies when parents set their kids up for failure. 30+ years ago it I didn't turn in my homework, my parents would have beaten the shite out of me. We live in a much different world today where the inmates run the asylum

St Paul's in Covington didn't give zeros either many years ago. 50 was the lowest grade you could get.

Nah I got a lot of zeros because I wouldn't do shite and my parents would be livid with me. It wasn't used in place of discipline, I didn't do the work so I didn't deserve the credit.

I think she is subliminally trying to tell them that they will all receive an F in liFe.

, I completely agree there are ulterior motives. However, logical motives can exist too.

So you have a 20% chance to get an A-F, no matter how bad you do.

no, it means you have a 10% chance to get nothing less then a "c" just for showing up

you must have been graded on this same scale, because when i went to school 50% for total failure equals a "c" average

if you never get less then a "c" for anything then its "a", "b", or "c" and you cant ever get a "d" or an "f" grade

Yeah, same here, but it goes back to the original question of what does your grade in a class actually mean? Does an A mean you understand the material exceptionally or were you just a hard worker with an inflated grade due to HW assignment?

It has been my experience that these

Ended her sentence in a preposition

Which is perfectly fine. The rule that people often cite is intended for Latin grammar and has no bearing on English grammar. There are times when trying to avoid ending a sentence with a preposition creates unnecessary and awkward phrasing. Of course, in this case, it could have been easily done.

Winston Churchill once allegedly exclaimed, "That is the sort of thing up with which I will not put!" to mock someone who criticized him for ending a sentence with a preposition.

Real CSB. In a senior class at a local HS here a teacher told me that a student had no higher than a 16 in any of his classes, meaning he had even less in others. He graduated.............

I agree for not getting a grade for not turning in any work. But teachers just love to mark points of of grades, some do anyway.

Oh, you did it in wrong color, oh you forgot it in your car and turned it in after class, oh, any other reason I can subract points to show you how I am really in charge here.

Your wife was stupid to let a kid sit through summer school and fail without calling the parent before the last day.

So you could legit not do shite all year and then get a D by trying the last 2 weeks. It’s not hard to go from a 50 to a 60

Completely untrue if you waited until the last two weeks to gear up. For example, say you get 50% of 2000 points for doing nothing the first majority of a year, and then in the last 2 weeks you get 70% of 300 points, you will end up with 1210 of a possible 2300 points, which is tada 52.6% , which means by improving by 20% over the last 2 weeks of the year you have added a grand total of 2.6% to your average, and let's face it , no one that gets 50% over the first all but two weeks of a school term is going to get anywhere close to 70% on the last two weeks.

That being said, this is a terrible policy, that's independent of your statement about improving your grade to such an extreme. Do zero work, get zero points, that's my belief.

You are being awfully presumptuous to assume that the teacher (wife) did nothing to address the problem before the last day.

You telling me a student can make As and Bs for half the semester and then literally do nothing for the rest of the semester and finish with a C? That will really set them up well for college!

frick this gay earth.

This makes me want to repost my rant from a few weeks ago.

Forget the no zero policy. It’s insanely hard just to fail a kid. If they don’t turn work in, it’s considered a discipline issue and should be treated as such. It’s how they get around giving the kid a zero.
