I think it is too soon to tell. If it helps them learn, great.

Parents don’t parent, they just give them an iPad and left them go.

Meh, I'm not going to judge parents based on my 30 second observation of them letting their autistic child watch YouTube or whatever.

Which means he does it all the time.

I am a sped teacher. If it got to the point where the teacher filed a police report, it means the school it tired of this kid beating everyone. They have exhausted every resource imaginable, and the parents are not helping.

The kid will just go to another school now and cannot return to that school as long as that teacher works there.

The problem with the Autism argument is these days you don’t know if it’s true or it’s just bad parenting bullshite.

I have a friend who claimed her son had autism all while growing up. We always noticed that she was just a horrible parent who never corrected his arse anytime he would ever act out. Never even try to stop him. Fast forward to her getting a boyfriend and getting married and her son now having a father figure and wouldn’t you know it his “autism” magically disappeared. You would never know he had problems until age 7 unless she told u. So I always take the autism argument with a grain of salt because of personal experience.

Sounds like a crappy parent making excuses for their kid assaulting people. Teachers aren't allowed to discipline these kids so they dont have a lot of options to deal with kids who are violent and disruptive.

I want to know how she knows the teacher screamed at him if he only communicates through aggression.

My wife is a special ed teacher. It’s actually a requirement in her school that incidents like above be reported. They’re all on video now in the classrooms so everything has to be by the book. This way the teacher’s arse is covered if the parents raise hell.

All of this. And do you think for a minute that parents are slow to file reports against teachers?

Never a good idea to throw hands with someone on the spectrum, those people are too unpredictable

Teachers have to report any incident such as this. What happens if the teacher overlooks the behavior and the next day he beats the hell out of a classmate? The school district would have a huge lawsuit on their hands.

Good for her.

I was beginning to think that every teacher was letting a special student hit.

Is it an overreaction? Yes. Yes it’s an overreaction. But it’s not the teacher’s fault. Long ago we removed the teacher’s ability to discipline students so now we’re left with teachers having to get the police involved in what should be a disciplinary issue involving the school and the parents.

Yep. It's a common tactic by schools when a teacher wants that kid out of her classroom or a principle wants a kid out of the school.

100%. We had to go to court against the Livingston Parish school board and walker elementary over the way they treated my little brother who has autism.

One of the walker cops came in one day, punched him, handcuffed him, and drug him out of class.. WHEN HE WAS 10. All because he didn't want to go to PE.

frick walker elementary. frick walker police.

downvotes because we sued the school board? Congratulations. Livingston Parish is exponentially more prepared to deal with autistic children today than they were over a decade ago when we sued to have them put these resources in place.

You're welcome.

Smdh. I hope you never have a child or relative that has autism dude. You have no earthly idea the hell that it causes for the family.

So in your mind, she is expected to withstand whatever physical onslaught comes at her, then agree with the parents, that it was somehow all her fault? Because she agreed to work there?
