Knew a guy once who had a can of Tony Chachere's tatted on his calf muscle.

If you think it sounds dumb you should have seen it

This thread is full of people who are obese, wearing hey dudes with cargo shorts, and talking about other people's appearances.

I don't have tats and don't give a shite if someone does, but also don't cry about it because people won't give you respectable jobs with an ice cream cone tattooed on your face.

A long life has taught me to be careful or crazy will sneak up on you. Looking back, I usually realize there were red flags that I missed or ignored. Tattoos are right there at the top of the list. No, they aren't completely normal and reliable folks who just decided to write/draw shite all over their bodies. There's likely to be a snake in that attic.

when a young kid tells me they want a tattoo, I try to remind them that they wont be wearing the same style clothes in 5 years, they will like different food, different people, different music and may or may not even like themselves. I tell them that I often think back to something i did a few years ago and say "what the hell was i thinking?!"

So why would you get a tattoo of something that you think is cool when youre 18? Just look at the barbed wire, tribals, and chinese symbols that are laughed at now.

I take it as a personal mission to convince them not to get a tattoo

Tattoos used to mean something. They used to mean you went through something or your represented something and you wanted to mark yourself with the memory or the "talisman" of the experience, or remember.

Today I see a lot of people just desecrating their bodies because.

In some cases it seems like they are punishing themselves.

Your child's name on your arm, OK. You survived a fire fight in Iraq, yes. You want to honor your Italian heritage, nice. You belong to a specific group, fraternity, club activity good for you.

A Disney cartoon accompanied by a Celtic tree, with the Ford symbol and Asian marking for spirit along with a cobra, Yosemite Sam, Lakers logo, "I give thee grace" quote all along your arm in a full sleeve is a sign of mental illness.

It's a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling.

I think tattoos are trashy and gross. Sorry, that’s how I grew up. I’m 55 and when I was young, only former military (which I can excuse), criminals and bikers had tattoos. Now it’s everyone.

Nothing grosses me out more than an attractive woman with huge tattoos.

I’ve never, ever considered getting a tattoo. There’s not a single thing I can think of that I would want tattooed on my body.

I like tats, piercings and weird names, it helps shorten my employee selection process.

another thread of the southern conservatives judging other peoples decisions and apparently getting to decide what is meaningful or meaningless to those not like them. the people I know with tattoos tend to be a lot cooler and more free spirited than the people I grew up around in BR
