My mom passed away 3 years ago. I have boxes and boxes of stuff from her house in my garage. I say just about every week I'm going to sort through them and reclaim that area of my garage. I guess one day I'll get around to it.
My dad died in ‘89. We cleaned out his house for sale and I ended up with about eight of those big file drawer-sized boxes with his work papers in them.
I moved once in the interim and the boxes were in my second garage taking up space.
Spring of ‘05 I get the wild hair to go through them.
It took me several months and there was some wonderful stuff in there: work & personal correspondence, mementos, notes, some pics that none of his survivors had ever seen, etc.
I farmed it out amongst my siblings, it was like finding a time capsule from him.
About a month after I’d finished going through the last of it, Katrina comes and would have ruined it all.
Moral: Don’t put that shite off.

Most of it we've already kind of gone through while cleaning the house out to sell. We boxed it up because we weren't sure in the haste of cleaning what to do with it. We've already found most of the important family relics and whatnot. But I'm sure there are still some gems in there.

Finishing out my new office. Had an addition and new deck built last summer/fall. They started demo the last week of August. Finished the build in late September, and we had to wait a few weeks for them to come do the stain and paint, and they were going to pressure wash first. So I didn't want to mess with doing the flooring and paint in my office and risk it getting wet when they pressure washed. They finished up late Octover, and I told myself I was going to do it over Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then MLK weekend. Now I'm telling myself I'll do it over President's Day weekend, but too much going on to really get after it.

Bro I thought you were poor
All my money is tied up on my house I bought past fall. Definitely bit off more than I could chew. Home ownership is expensive

Pulling the shroud off the bathroom vent/heat to clean off dust.
Putting a new FL light fixture in the garage.
Lubing the garage door opener track and orders new light cover.

The dirty secret is you still have to clean them out with most of those systems, you just have to do it less frequently.
Yeah, that's the dilemma I'm facing. Is the reduction in maintenance time worth the cost. Because from what little research I've done, seems to be more expensive than what I had envisioned.

I bought a set of 8 PoE cameras just before temps rose last year. I said when it cooled off i would run wires for them in the attic. It’s really a two man job, so I lean on COVID as an excuse, too.
I have a piece of cabinet molding that got pulled off. I borrowed my brother’s air compressor. It has a leak in the hose and won’t hold enough pressure to put finishing nails in.
I need to organize my workshop and garage
Someone at one point made a wooden covering for the blinds on my kitchen door. It fell off. I still haven’t figured out how I am going to reattach it. I think it was held on with double sided tape.
I bought a power strip to better organize the electronics in my man cave. I haven’t organize them yet.

Patching a few areas of drywall. Have to cut out some sections and fit em, mud em, and sand and paint. It’s always a mess and I put off doing this for a while.

Replace parts on my BGE.
Clean the man cave downstairs for home office.
Organize fishing gear for tournament season.
Setup reloading equipment.
Gonna try to get to a lot of this this weekend.

Way too many, to be honest.
But to name a few:
1. Add corbels for support under some granite counter tops in the kitchen
2. Build some kennels for the dogs when they come inside every night.
3. Replace a few light fixtures

I have two of the five 40 year old crape myrtle trees on my property that are still on the ground from hurricane Laura. I have the 3 along my driveway and a lemon tree standing back vertical. The last two are topped, I just need to latch on to them and upright them but I can't do those 2 alone because I need to block off the road. Plus it's been so freaking wet around here this winter the yard is like a crawfish pond.

I've had a pallet full of stone sitting in my driveway for seven months waiting on me to put them in place for a walk. Many other things keep taking my time.

I have a fluorescent light flickering in my shop that needs fixing. I was waiting for it to go out all together but maybe this weekend I will get to it.
