Oh BTW, TPSO made sure to state the complainant never followed up on the report.

How would they know if she ever followed up anyway?

the case involving allegations against 46 – year-old John Barnes of Ponchatoula, LA, which has gained widespread media attention, has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office

Just now? Wow. I was giving ol boy the benefit of doubt but Bronc may have been right all along in regard to malfeasance by Sheriff.

Given what we have seen out of the Livingston and Ascension SOs, I am not shocked one bit. Lotta stuff gets buried to help connected people like other cops or donors.

Good to know that they only dropped the ball during this period which was *checks notes* only 7 years...

Someone has to step in when the thread was initially chalk full of people like yourself attempting to concoct excuses on behalf of every male in this story to exonerate them preemptively and do the whole "just askin questions" routine exclusively about the woman.

Do you want an award for steppin' in while many of us were skeptical of crucifying a man based on the very limited details of the case?

Now that more information has been released, we can all judge him as a scumbag pervert and like you suggested he may have very well preyed on young females. The many questions I had previously have been revealed somewhat and I'm interested to see how deep this thing goes relative to the cover-up from the sheriff's department, the district attorney and anyone else that failed to do their job.

it was discovered that the report never made it through the proper channels within the department to be assigned for investigation. Therefore, our department absolutely dropped the ball, and we simply must own our mistake. This is a mistake, however, that simply has never been a problem before or since, and we must make sure to keep it that way.
“The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has reviewed and identified the breakdown in operations relating to the initial complaint filed by the complainant. Since that time, enhancements to department procedures have been implemented and measures put in place to ensure reports from the public never go overlooked or mishandled.

I am calling buulshit on all of this. He is saying this has never happened before or after yet this was just discovered and they implemented safe guards to prvent it and know this is the only case

After watching this for several days I think several ppl end of getting fired. The question is was this intentionally hidden or was in incompetence.

I would LOVE a detailed review and report on how a potential rape case just fell through the cracks.

I think it makes it worse that one of the potential crimes is a felony sex crime that all one needs is a calendar to prove well beyond the criminal burden of proof. The child is what moves that from he said she said to a STFU and plead guilty case.

You were skeptical entirely one way, toward the woman and her side of the story.

While overextending the benefit of the doubt to the Judge, the rapist, and the police, entiriely that one way. To the point of theorizing exonerating circumstances for them. And, only in their direction.

I'm glad you are doing what others didn't though, like LNCHBOX and some of the other aggressive posters going super hard into defending this increasingly apparent scumbag.

It’ll be blamed on incompetence, but more than likely old boy used some connections to bury this thing

I don't think he is that connected. This kind of stuff gets you fired, maybe worse.

It's people like you that make shite like this possible. Is he your friend, or are you a sympathetic rapist ?

Neither is a good look for them.

Being fricking stupid is bad but intentionally covering up a felony is far worse.

There is no rape kit. She didn't report the incident until years after.

The proof that a 30 year old had sex with a 16 year old is the child. And the birth certificate.

Simple math will show that the mother was 16 when this child was conceived.

Even if she wanted to have sex with this man, she was not able to do so legally. He was an adult and she was a child.

There is no middle ground on this.

I think(hope) it is a good sign this if going to the DA and is getting national/international attention. Unlike the Jarreau incident, things seem to be progressing in a way that will make it difficult for malfeasance to dominate the process from here out.

....though I should probably not underrate the power or Louisiana corruption.
