Am I the only one who thinks a law degree shouldn't be required to sit for the bar? I went to a semester of law school and it was really easy, but I didn't want to spend 3 years briefing cases and taking crap from professors. I think that if you can pass the bar, it shouldn't matter if you went to law school. I mean, Huey Long and Frank Abignale were able to sit for the bar without finishing law school, so why shouldn't I?

How else are these schools going to trick people into taking out large loans to pay them?

Depending on your state if you intern for X amount of hours you can sit for the Bar...

You think a bunch of lawyers whom run the law schools are gonna let their gravy train disappear like that?

I agree. If anything, an apprenticeship with a firm or practice should be viable replacement for law school. Only those interested in being a jurist should really have to undergo post-graduate law education.

Not many. CA is the only one off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's a handful more.

There are enough lawyers without letting everyone take the bar exam.

You shouldn't have to study for it either.

Yes I'm sure it was a breeze for you.

Yes I'm sure that was it.

Because you couldn't make it more than a semester in law school.

Dude, if you just start letting competent people work without milking them first you are going to crash our entire economy.

Louisiana actually used to allow this.

Huey Long did so.

You should be able to do it with a year of law school where you take legal research/writing and then civil procedure and constitutional law plus a few of the cores like property, contracts, torts, and criminal

So, you went to an institution that purposely fails out a certain % of their 1L class during the first semester and quit?

Yeaaaaaaah...ok.

I think there are still a couple of states where you can do that.

Well it is all multiple choice so there is a chance someone gets lucky and guesses enough right to pass. Which appears to already be happening by the number of ignorant lawyers released into the public every year.

So i vote yeah! save some money and take the bar if you so please, without going to school
