False despite what the baws on the OT think. The areas with the highest density would be supremely fricked and the hospitals would get overrun. Places like NYC would look exactly like Italy and the more rural places while not overrun would still get hit harder. The question was always and still is when do we open back up and how do we get ready for a second wave

Yet we were still overrun with cases...
I've never seen 30 ventilators operated, ever, at our facility...
We basically took a step down cardiac unit and turned it into an ICU. We took med/surge floors and turned them into covid units... It was crazy.
As of yesterday, we were down to our last Covid vent pt... and he may have been extubated today...

There’s literally not one piece of data to back up this assertion. The models that predicted this were laughably, fantastically wrong. Now we are faced with the ironic result of hundreds of hospital systems and rural hospitals that are insolvent, thanks to this inane and emotion driven policy. The hospitals that were to be overrun are now out of business, so good job, I guess?

Deaths would have likely been higher, but that's a subjective argument about how many deaths are you okay with so long as the economy doesn't tank.
Not sure where that line is, but I know under 100k deaths is a small amount for the damage this shut down has caused.
What SHOULD have happened, was anyone with underlying medical conditions (or age) that would make death a likely outcome if you caught the virus, stay home and quarantine as they are already doing now.
If you have no underlying medical conditions, you go on about your business. If you catch the virus, you get sick for a week or two, then go on about your business. You can't infect anyone who could die, because guess the frick what? They are at home.
The fear of catching the virus is what's driving this unnecessary insanity and it shouldn't be. Catching it means nothing more than a more uncomfortable flu. Shutting down the country for that is ridiculous.

No required masks. A whopping .3% of the population got sick. Do you think that justifies ANY restriction much less the draconian restrictions placed on us from ALL levels of goverment.

I actually agree with this since it appears that a vaccine won't be here anytime soon. I guess what I was wondering with the question is whether masks (while loathed by most people) would have done enough to keep the infection numbers down so that we could have just carried on.

I think everything has been done pretty good but now we need to open back up. There was good reason to be scared but now we have a better understanding of what we are dealing with. Open back up the old people know it's dangerous. There has been some great research done because of this and a lot of good will come out of it because of the rush to research.
