I still do it but yea it creeps me out when my foot brushes something or I feel a very cold spot in the water. When I was 18 my cousin was saying he could beat me swimming & we dove off the pier at Old River, swam to the houseboat, turned around and back to the pier. When I got to the houseboat & felt that slime I immediately regretted it. It was even worse swimming back to the pier with all the mocs.

So stupid.

Almost everything in the ocean eats meat. I am meat to them. I will stick to swimming in the cement pond.

Yeah, while snorkeling near the Key's, the barricudas made me a little uncomfortable. The guide laughed it off and said he's taken thousands of trips and they never bothered anyone.

Up until I was about 22 or 23 years old I used to jump in around false river and lake verrett and never even hesitate

Then, around that age I at least started having some reservations I would be mauled by an aligator or eaten by a snake, but it didnt truly frighten me

Now in my 30s with two kids I am like a damn bitch when my kids get near that water

Its amazing what growing up/becoming a parent can do to your feelings of invincibility

I grew up swimming and fishing in our ponds, and still love to swim in them and lakes. The best are the coastal dune lakes in Fort Walton County.

We knew there were snakes in our ponds and didn’t really worry about them. The only thing that bit us in our pond were brim. Brim will bite at freckles or spots on your skin if you are still for long enough.

Plus the Amite River, where camps drain their sewer water, helped build up my immune system. I very rarely get sick.

And once you’ve done the Amite River, why bother expecting someone to care about their anal hygiene prior to rugged arse-play, right? It’s all about efficiency.

Head north and jump in at worst greenish water.

Purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka

Anyone else have a septic pond in their back yard growing up?

Wonder if anyone swam in that
