This is POTENTIALLY the most serious, non-war situation our nation has faced in it's history.
It really is. I mean, about half the adult population of the world's largest economy has just seized on the opportunity to extort a vacation from the other half. Apparently they believe in leprechauns.

Tread lightly. This board does not allow any middle ground. Either this virus is going to kill everyone on the planet, or it‘s the common cold and we shouldn’t take any precautions.
I don't understand this. We are clearly in the middle ground. We have 250,000 cases and spreading. Not everyone is dying, but some people are.
I have one family member currently hospitalized with Covid-19. I don't believe the sky is falling, and as of yesterday, his prognosis was good.
I'm taking precautions, but still going to stores and FedEx.
I'm running my business, though sales are down. If the shutdown is extended through May, I'm worried that I will run out of product.
I don't think any of what I have is unreasonable.

Are they afraid the Swedish plan may expose how much of a waste the lockdowns may have been on other countries?
100%
Can't thank the government for saving us if another country weathers this situation just as good or better with minimal government interference.
This is the reason for the media firestorm.

Do you have a link? I would like to read it, watch the video or listen to the audio.

Do you have a search suggestion on you-tube?

Over half of Swedish households consist of just one person, the highest number of single-person households in the world. The country is sparsely populated.

"They said they feel that they currently have enough ventilators," Trump said of the local hospital officials during a press conference at the White House on Friday, adding that Louisiana was being sent 230,000 surgical gowns. "I think a lot of people are going to have enough ventilators and masks and appreciate what we did."
quote:
"Ochsner Health is grateful for the support of President Trump and our leaders in Washington to receive an additional 230,000 gowns tomorrow, and for the ongoing efforts of Governor Edwards to ensure we have an adequate supply of ventilators at Ochsner and across the state," Thomas said. "We continue to work with our elected officials and our vendors around the clock to source the necessary supplies and equipment needed for our team members during this unprecedented time."

LCMC Health said in a statement it had received an additional 40 ventilators from the state on Friday, confirming officials feel an "adequate surge supply" is in place.

The state has about 1,930 ventilators total, with 49% of those are currently in use, according to the state health department.

The New Orleans region had about 60% of its ventilators in use as of Friday, according to health department data, but it was unclear whether that total included any new shipments. There were 252 ventilators listed as not in use.

White House Briefing 4-3-2020
The Feds gave us 1% of what JBE was screaming for and we have enough.

The big difference is Sweden has less dumbasses per capita than the US.
You won’t see things like COVID parties and second lines in Sweden right now.

JBE said we needed 12,000 additional vents.
We’ve tested 55,000 people in Louisiana.
There are 3.5M adults in Louisiana.
535 are on vents.
The math doesn’t support his “need”.

Funny. Sweden's debt to GDP is below 40%. So they could actually afford the lockdown and all of the welfare associated with it, too

The difference is that Swedes trust their government way more than we do, so they follow the recommendations. No need for lockdowns.
Here, people will gather for Mardi Gras, spring break and church just to tell the government to go to hell.
Sad to say but true.
