we're getting rain the next 3 days. we can handle more rain (in terms of flooding) in most places b/c there is drainage that works. it just can't handle a ton dumped in an hour or whatever. however, some areas are f'd. too much development in southern areas of Calcasieu the past 20 years in rice fields has (1) removed those fields as drainage areas and (2) put housing in historic area of drainage/water accumulation during rain

I’ve never seen that area flood like that.
It’s just a testament to how fast and how hard that rain came down yesterday. Insane.

So you mean it’s NOT the tax dollars that the casinos and politicians steal from us hard working tax payers that wonder where that money goes while the Mayor just sits in his office and ignores calls!!?

Sadly, no.
However, I'm curious if Nick Hunter can survive his recent liberalism. He *gasp* met with a Democrat President visiting his city and mentioned climate change.
We're going to have a legit baw run against him next time

Is it going to rain like it did yesterday today in Baton Rouge?

I'd imagine high and dry. They really built that up

Just look on the Assessor’s Map. You can do it now. MikelBR could run down everything the owner has ever done in life in about three minutes.

Got a relative off 90 @ Iowa, who just finally, finally got back in their house, with furniture and everything less than 2 months ago
wiped out yesterday
they were travelling eastbound on the highway coming back from Chenault. There was so much water on the road, 2 semi's travelling westbound displaced so much water, it pushed their car sideways, damn near off the road. They couldnt open the door, had to climb out of the window and walk 1/2 mile in floodwaters. Totalled the vehicle, only to come home in 6"+ of water in the house.

I thought he did well. I thought he brought up good points and fed to the people that are tired of politics. There was really nothing he said that I disagreed with and he made a point to use his camera time efficiently to ask for help in front of a national audience.
With that said, I do understand that Louisiana is full of people on the right that will refuse to move center. Just like the left. The best idea should always win and he had a solid planned speech. Unfortunately, most everyone thinks the best SIDE should win and it falls on deaf ears.
That guy has done an awesome job with what he’s been dealt, IMO. I don’t think there’s really anyone to challenge him. That’s why you saw what ran in the last election against him. He got 75% of the vote.
To be fair, considering who ran against him, I thought he’d get 90%

Each of those opponents have a little following so it was never going to be that high. You also have to remember LC is majority AA and there is a set % that simply will never vote for a Republican when they go to the polls and see that.
After that election, it's clear that only people trying to raise political funds or trying to get their name out are going to challenge him.

They just bought it a week ago. Doesn't appear to be updated.

Well I just woke up after about 4.5hrs of sleep, and I got lucky… I have so much water in my back yard that both sides of my house look like a river with a strong current… and water got about 1in away from going over my slab and coming into my house on the back side… Hopefully others got lucky also while I know some did not
Does anyone know how bad it’s predicted to rain today?
Something like last night happens again today I will not get lucky a second time

Yall that are getting close to a wet arse should go check for stopped up ditches downstream of your house and get to work clearing them out. With as much rain as we got there's going to be a whole lot of bullshite getting carried into the ditches and plugging stuff up.

I just read that the subdivision I used to live in in Gonzales (Angelle Estates) is having issues with significant street flooding. That is insane because that subdivision is very high and when I lived there I used to always say that if we flooded there then the entire world floods. Crazy how fast all that rain fell for even that area to have problems. I would’ve bet serious money that they’d never ever see any flooding issues there.

TV said radar indicated portions of Prairieville and Gonzales received as much as 15” of rain yesterday
I believe it.

I don't think I could handle that

6” of standing water inside a house is enough to do $100,000 of damage.
