The kids are sending pictures of Park Place apartments at LSU having several feet of water in the stairwell. The dumpsters are floating off too so be careful if you’re driving around in the dark. One of those would do some damage.

It’s hard to say. Places that didn’t flood in 2016 are flooding and places that did are flooding too. And some that did aren’t and some that didn’t aren’t. It’s pretty bad though.

Watch out for snakes in the water, baw. You may want to repucker if you have to go back out.

I’ve got about a foot of water in my house. Thankfully saved my car. This is a nightmare.

Took no water in 2016

Awe man, I hate hearing this shite.

I think it’s just water pouring off Jefferson highway

We were out in this earlier. Oddly enough getting my daughter back home from horse lessons tonight.

Pecue lane on Highland was literally a 1/2 foot tall river washing across Highland for 200 yards or so.

This is a crazy amount of rain all at once. It just can't get to the drainage canals and they are backing up anyway.

Aspy if you need help gutting post up contact info in this thread. I've got tools and a couple teen horse girls for labor.

Make the smart decision and just don't. Unless you 100% life or death have to be out driving, just don't. It will help everyone out tonight.

Hoping I didn’t speak too soon. Looks like we are in a little spot of green and red all around us, and more coming. Already picking back up a bit. Hopefully the power stays on, at least that way I can drown out the rain

Thanks

I really need the red spot on radar to clear my area. Anything you can do about that?

Just heard they are putting out barricades around Antioch and tigerbend.

I’m a bit further down Tigerbend, past Elliott. Backyard has a nice size drainage ditch as the property line that feeds into Clay Cut Bay. It’s still flowing extremely well, so that’s a good. It’s actually receded a few feet from where it was about 45 minutes ago. But it’s starting to creep back up.

Need it to slack up for a bit.

Yep, apparently they brought in a ton of dirt to build the apartments really high up and then dug some serious retention ponds. Hopefully the rain let’s off for a little bit to help the draining.

Hope it lets up.

A lot of the newer neighborhoods have retention ponds to hold runoff for rapid 3-5” rainfall in a few hours (like the kind of typical summer storm Louisiana gets). Unfortunately most of the area around south Baton Rouge has seen triple that since about 5 PM.

People can shite all over Lake Charles or Baton Rouge...but no city can handle that kind of weather those cities saw today without some flood problems.
