So I can tell my boss to go frick himself and then sue him for firing me for exercising my 1st Amendment rights? It doesn’t work that way, sweet heart.

The solution YOU brought up was for the GOVERNMENT to fire its OWN employees for political affiliation. You realize that isn’t allowed under the constitution, right?

We aren’t talking about private employers so quit trying to obfuscate.

Yes it is allowed. If someone is a hardcore Nazi or Klansman and is working for the government, then he could be fired for his political views alone. End of discussion, moron.

Government employees shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

That goes for the president down to the lowliest BFE janitor.

As a current public employee, Scruffy fully supports this.

No wonder the china run media outlets aren't reporting the vote. One of their own voted against it.

Can’t get people fired for that in the private sector,

That depends on state laws because there's no federal law prohibiting the firing of an employee over political beliefs (although it can get tricky when it crosses into protected territory like race).

I forget which states and it’s probably changed since I graduated college, but yes there are some states where political views are a protected class, but not federally. It’s just an obvious one that some political ideologies are evil and lead to mass deaths. You should have the right to say whatever you want, but it’s clear some people’s political ideology can cause major workplace problems.

The fact this isn’t equally enforced is why some people have such a hard time believing it’s true. Maybe unequal enforcement actually means this notion isn’t true. It shouldn’t be legal for a company to cheer for BLM riots while condemning 1/6.

Political affiliation is protected from discrimination when it comes to non-policymaking government employees.

Do you truly believe a public school administrator can walk in on monday morning and announce that all democrats are terminated immediately for being democrats?

That would be some dastardly shite on MLK Day.

the idea of setting precedent that OSHA can be used in such a way is horrifying

This was the scary part. It would spread like a wildfire with other Departments coming up with ideas to keep us safe.

Plus democrat men are fun to pick on. Slap them in the back of the head, take their lunches, shoot rubber bands at them. They just sit there and take it. Need that kind of fun at work sometimes

I’d expect mass outrage, but that’s technically legal.

And this is how bad it’s going for Biden. His Chief of Staff just retweeted this:

Wow, retweeting most people hate the President. Unbelievable how bad of a week this has been for Biden. This is effectively the end of his Presidency to do anything of value. Honestly Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, and Ron DeSantis for all practical purposes are more powerful than Biden is. The only weeks that could be considered worse are the last two weeks in office. He’s got to have three of the Top 20 worst weeks in office in American history.

The msm got to get the talking points together and Biden had to make his speech to tell companies to do it anyway.

And the problem isn't politicians, the problem is the 100m+ Americans who will fluctuate between liberty and authoritarianism depending on how a pitch makes them feel. Times suck, which is why nobody has patience for lectures about imaginary voting suppression. Yet when the pendulum swings and times are good, suddenly the idiots who live among us will go "hey my 401k is doing good, you know what, we really should start stifling the productive classes and talking about BLM again."

Ya, it's called the suburban middle class white woman.

Zero chance the approval/ disapproval numbers are that close.

Maybe among just Democrats. Or just CNN watchers.
But not the general public.
