In High School, I learned to Umpire Softball, men's and women leagues on the base.
Then took over a job at the Special Services Center at night.
At Auburn, I worked for my Grandfather's Company. I was on the overhead crane installation crew for the first two years . Then spent a summer at the Crouse Hinds Foundry in Amarillo, Texas. Walking Steel with Alabama Steel workers
The last summer spent in Mexico working on the install of the GMAC Foundry, crane crews and tram rail systems.
Every time the Overhead Crane team arrived, I was surrendered to them.

Worked on a farm but would leave for a month or so to hit a turnaround. I worked for about 1.5 months one summer, straight 12s making 21.50. Thought I was rich and didn't go back to work the rest of summer.

I am, and will always be, a proponent of kids having jobs for at least the summer. My oldest daughter was loaned a car on the premise she’d get a job and pay me $100/mo for insurance. That would teach her the value of money, work ethic, and responsibility. Her mom, my ex, thinks I am being unfair because she does good in school and will have volleyball practice/workouts over the summer. (Couple hours a day max).
I’m taking the car from her June 1st, as per our original agreement, if I don’t have $100 and she doesn’t have a job.
The proverbial shite will hit the fan, but I believe it’s important not to over coddle our kids.

I was a bit of a slacker in high school until I got a job in construction digging up asphalt electrical trenches on an airport runway in 100+ heat. I was 15. Got to work at 6 AM - left at 6 PM. It convinced me that I wanted to work at a desk in air conditioning. My grades improved exponentially after that summer.

Worked in a plant for a contractor. I’ll tell you what, I sure didn’t mind waking up to go to class, after working in those plants. 8ams were a much better deal, than waking up at 4am, to work all day in 100 degree weather.

Ice plant. Worked in the freezer bagging ice (-10°) then go outside in 90°+ heat to work construction on the add-on to the ice plant. Or vice versa.
All for $1.25 an hour, gross.

My Dad managed a welder/electric motor repair business so i spent summers working for him.
Started out at 14 cleaning the machinery every summer by the time I graduated I could almost rebuild an electric motor from a complete tear down.
The first summer i worked with him i was sent to a shop about a mile down the road to pick up a welder on the back of the F650 flatbed. I grew up in a small town so driving back then was no big deal. I could drive a stick but this truck was a whole other beast. I made it there and loaded the welder up but when i started back i tried to pull into traffic and stalled. I must have tried to start the truck moving 10 times, i was sitting across both lanes freaking out. I jump out of the truck and run all the way back to our shop to get one of the guys to go back with me and get the truck out of the road. I worked there at least 5 summers and never lived that one down.

I did this in my neighborhood all through high school and did a lot of side work in college doing landscaping.
I now pay someone to handle my yard entirely and will for the rest of my life.

I cut about 6-8 yards in the Summer/Spring and then worked at a Christmas Tree farm in the winters. I wish life was still that simple!
