Delivered drums of oil and delivered diesel to tugboats.
Tugboats have great lunches.
Got free tank of gas each Friday evening.
Made enough to pay for college, rent, and had enough for dates on the weekends.

High school wasn't just a summertime job. Had the neighborhood paper route for several years until I started college, then my sister and brother continued it until they left for college as well a few years later.
Worked for Dad's natural gas company when I was home from LSU in the summers. Cut right-o-way, fixed leaks on 16" and 24" transmission lines, blew the brine off gas wells, checked gathering lines between wells and transmission lines, and did a hell of a lot of painting of wells, meter runs, regulator stations, compressor stations, etc. Probably the most fun I ever had at a job. I had known all the folks I worked with since I was big enough to walk. They had always been like part of our family.

Besides cutting grass, working at a nursery/landscaping place was my first job at 14. I thought it was just going to be helping old ladies carry flowers to their cars...I pretty much just shoveled mulch every day. I also always had to go find the Caiman when he got out of his enclosure; fricker was always hiding in the water plants section
