We’ve been comparing the two as well

A Toyota Sienna fits your needs better.

The Max has a problem with the front end diving down when going uphill.

We have a 2018 suburban with the destination package. We love it. Plenty of room, split seating on the first row was a must so kids could get in and out easy, Good power, has built in trailer break system so pulling our camper isn't an issue, great ride and not that bad on gas. It's an LT but when they add the destination package it has everything we possibly wanted and probably a little more. We looked at the expeditions but I personally think they are ugly.

The new suburbans look like hearses.

Suburban vs Expedition Max
Suburban.
Next question.

I have a 2017 Yukon XL Denali and can't get rid of it fast enough. The A/C compressor has gone out twice, the transmission harness replaced, power running board motor replaced, power door locks had to be repaired, there is plastic crap all over the inside that doesn't stay on and breaks (ie arm chair hinge covers, driver and passenger seat mounting bracket covers, cup holders). It idles rough too.
GM issued an extended warranty on the A/C parts due to known defect.
Way too much stuff wrong with a 70k sled. I can't bring myself to put up the extra 20k and get a navigator and unfortunately, wife doesn't like the expedition.
nb4 - family not fat, just wife and 3 kids
nb4 - no pics of the wife
nb4 - navigators are trashy

This.
And the correct answer is that you can't go wrong with a Suburban.

I absolutely love my 2019 GMC Yukon financed for 84 months at $965 a month...with my 30A sticker on back window.
I thought it was funny. Must be a lot of truck notes or 30A fans in this thread.

If you look at statistics, you can't go wrong with either. The Suburban and Expedition rank 2nd and 3rd (both at 5%) in this 2019 study of vehicles most likely to reach 200,000 miles.

Thanks all. This is mostly a little people mover. Very light trailer towing rarely. We have a highlander now but have started taking road trips more often so the extra cargo space is needed.
BTW, something I’d suggest for growing families, we’ve started spending less if any money on junk the kids rarely play with for birthdays and Christmas and use our money for experiences: trips, concerts, even digging around and touring local cities. Haven’t regretted it one bit.

I’m on my 4th Expedition. Gor 175k miles out of all them with no trouble at all. I’ve got 122k on the current one.
Door lock keypad is best option ever. Always lock the keys in it.

my neighbor is having similar issues with a 2016. AC changed, ball joint failures, coil replaced, vibrating seat - lane departure feature had to be disabled the dealership could not figure out how to fix it, all 4 struts replaced. all this with less than 55,000 miles. this was from one of my sos missions:

Looking to buy a new one soon. Looking for your own experiences. Whatcha got for praises or complaints on either?
The turning radius of a Ford is superior to any GM product. Also, Ford has A/C seats. There nothing like getting into one of those on a hot summer day.

Of the two, I’d pick the Expedition.

Either are great vehicles, but the addition of the ecoboost and larger wheels "fixed" what was wrong with the old 5.4 models (sluggish, topheavy feel, etc.) My wife has one of the previous models (2016 XL) and it is amazing. So much better than the old 5.4 model she had before (and put 185k on before we got rid of it for another F150 we still have). Definitely get the XL if you're going Ford.
Individual cases aside, vehicle quality is way up across the board. I do feel that the Ford interiors are much more thought out and convenient, and GM seems to just cram more stuff and electronic doodads in like a 747 cockpit or on stalks from the steering column.

seems like a big vehicle for a V6.
I have driven V6's in smaller suv's and trucks have not been impressed. The torque or something maybe the sound just seems like the V8 is more substantial.
