A submarine in the Pacific Ocean was found with over 12,000 pounds of cocaine worth over $165 million dollars, officials said.
The vessel was intercepted by officials with the U.S. Coast Guard, who arrested four suspected drug smugglers, the Coast Guard said in a statement announcing the apprehension.

Crew members aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Valiant, along with members of the Coast Guard Pacific Tactical Law Enforcement Team, launched two small boats to board the 40-foot self-propelled semi-submersible ship on Sept. 5.
Officials recovered 1,100 pounds of cocaine which was offloaded to the Valiant during operations, the Coast Guard said. The remaining cocaine could not be safely extracted because the submarine was unstable.

"There are no words to describe the feeling Valiant crew is experiencing right now," said Cmdr. Matthew Waldron, the ship's commanding officer, in the statement.
You don't say. Found 12,000 pounds but recovered only 1,100 pounds, no wonder they feeling high

I imagine that for one submarine stuffed with coke like this that are found and intercepted, there are countless, untold numbers that go undiscovered.. makes you wonder why anyone would bother trying to smuggle drugs through airports or over the border.

I hope they at least get a % of that $160M in coke, I mean once they turn in that $150M, it may only be $140M.

Dammit, Krieger! Why’d you use the real coke as ballast for the sub test?

A 3 letter government agency called and said "I think you have found something that belongs to us."

because they don't have the money or resources to build and ship submarines full of cocaine to other countries

Did they shoot at the boat first?

imagine being on that 1800's submarine with some random drug cartel messican driving it through the ocean. if I got caught, id probably rather just tell them to drown me with the ship

What's better ballast for cocaine than cocaine?

$165 million if all of it were sold by the gram at top dollar.

I'd bet the boarder party would have been happier had this been a cash sub
CG gets drug tested, can't sample the goods but there are plenty of pockets in a tactical uniform that fit cash
