Somehow this feels like a PGA golfer trying to score a 58, which would be a new record, all the while the course is set up easier and they allow lift, clean, and place throughout the course.
Pretty good comparison.

Wait, you are popping 10 minute intervals at sub 4:35 pace? Did I read your post correctly? If so, strong, man, strong. Who sponsors you?

I interpreted that as he did 10 minutes on the treadmill with some intervals at 4:35...although I could be wrong

Oh I know about starky's comeback. The route usually passes by my house. He was 15 minutes ahead on the bike by my house last year and I made the comment that he'd blow up on the run. He dropped out. I knew he was a big cyclist, but thought that it was stupid to put it out there like he did. This year, it was awesome to see him do what he was doing even though I knew he wouldn't win. Knowing what he overcame was crazy. I thought he'd never run again after hearing about his incident.

Yeah, no shite. After what he went he went through (and is going through) with his son, then his accident I'd like to see he come back and be competitive.

They're finding it and offering some huge pot of gold if someone does it wearing their shoes.
Fwiw I've read their newest shoe is supposed to be pretty much the shite.
But even if the shoe technology is there I don't think humans are there yet (without peds)

2:02:57 is the current record according to Google for those who had no idea such as myself.

2 hours and 25 seconds.
Faster than the current WR time but falls just short of 2 hours

My clothing would be non-existent.

Come on, Zapp.
At least he's trying.

I read it. Seems like the other 2 stiffs failed him. I bet if they could have kept up a little better, it would have pushed him closer to the mark.
Good for him.
Good for him.

Very impressive. 25 secs short makes me believe it can be done. Doubted it could happen going in.

They had a group of people try multiple combinations of food, water, clothing and shoes until they set quarter marathon and half marathon times that would be well below a two hour marathon.
Was interesting to see all the research Nike was putting into long distance shoes and clothing.
Pretty amazing feat for a man to cover that distance in that time.

Damn. One second off each mile, and he'd have it. Crazy how close 25 seconds actually is.

I watched the whole thing. Kip had nothing left in the tank at the end. Incredible effort
